VERY VERY pale shade of foundation/cc cream

Looking for a light shade of foundation/cc cream for everyday wear. I've always struggled with getting the right shade, none of the brands in Superdrug/boots go light enough for me and even went into Sephora on a recent trip to Florida after my fake tan had worn off, to see if they could help me and the lady in the shop tried a few of their lightest ones and told me they just didn't have anything suitable.

People frequently ask me if I'm ill, I'm that pale!

I currently use a light shade of fake tan to bring myself to a more normal shade when I want to wear makeup but I'm getting fed up of doing this and just want something that matches me!

Preferably a brand which I buy a few smaller samples of shades to try. I did buy the lightest one from IT cosmetics (the smaller size) but that size only comes in 4 shades, even the lightest one was too dark. I'm a bit apprehensive on taking a gamble on their larger sizes which do come in more shades, as they're a lot more expensive.

Dior, Clinique and YSL have very light - almost white - foundation shades. Have you looked at those?

BlindurErBóklausMaður · 16/01/2024 13:38

Missha BBs are very very pale.
Your best bet is to get colour matched somewhere like Boots and then research other brands.

I'm Calico in Boots, NC01 in Estée Lauder, 13 in Missha and Clair in Erborian (for example)

Have you looked at Dcypher? You scan your face with your phone and they mix it for you. My match was spot on, but they will try again or refund if it's not right.

Jasmin1971 · 16/01/2024 15:12

Nars do a really pale one. And clinique have a shade called breeze ( cool toned) and custard ( neutral toned).

Sofabum · 16/01/2024 15:13

I use Armani silk 1.5 I think, it's the palest one they do

seymourhoffwoman · 16/01/2024 15:20

Haus Labs do a v pale one

NeptunaOfTheMermaidBattleSquadron · 16/01/2024 15:22

MAC are good because they do a range of lighter shades in W (warm) N (neutral) and C (cool) tones. The counter staff are very helpful with finding the best shade for you.

Thanks for all your replies

I've been stung a few times online by trying to figure out the right shade, even the Light shade of IT cc cream is too dark.

I just can't afford to keep taking gambles on stuff I can't use so was hoping to find something I could get a few small samples of.

Do you have a big boots nearby? Fenty do v pale shades and are stocked in boots you could get a tester?

TheChosenTwo · 16/01/2024 15:35

I’ve seen some very very fair shades of NARS in the shop, space nk might let you have some testers if you can get to one.

Whosaysyoucanthaveitall · 16/01/2024 19:30

I use Nars sheer glow in Mont Blanc. I have the palest skin type (also ghost like) and it’s the only one that matches my skin

Blondehairgonewild · 16/01/2024 19:36

I have the same issue, my friend sent me this on Instagram the other day and I couldn’t stop laughing:

I think the Nars one is Siberia. Rhianna is supposed to be really good for this.

VerityUnreasonble · 17/01/2024 12:35

Kat Von D does some foundation which is too pale even for my ghost like complexion. Might be worth a look at?

saturnspinkhoop · 17/01/2024 12:43

Lily Lolo does a very pale mineral foundation. You can order a sample of it if you want to try it.

I came to suggest dcypher. They refund if you’re not happy with the shade so you won’t waste any money.

Fluffywhitecloudsinthesky · 17/01/2024 13:29

MAC definitely do one, I've used it. One issue is though if you match to your chin/jawline, you can end up looking ghostly all over, so personally I use one that's a tiny bit more coloured, with lots of moisturiser and primer, and don't extend it down my jaw/neck, my whole face is not quite the same colour (possibly due to freckles).

Gymnopedie · 17/01/2024 14:35

I know you say you've looked in Superdrug but have you seen their very recently launched own brand Studio One? Their foundations are unbelievably pale, and even paler when you test them than they look in the bottle.

Anaemic Victorian With Cholera (Not Going to Make It Through The Winter) is exactly the shade I am looking for!

Sorry, Studio London not Studio One. The link works to the right thing though.

Glitterbug86 · 17/01/2024 14:56

Ester Lauder double wear in alabaster. Should be able to get a sample.

SunnydaleQueen · 17/01/2024 15:00

I'm a redhead and also very pale. Some of the foundations mentioned here have been too dark for me, I've found that Illamasqua skin base no.2 , Too faced snow / cloud or Kat von D light 41 are the only ones that are light enough for me to wear without looking like a clown

Redannie118 · 17/01/2024 15:06

Im an extremely pale rehead too and Tarte do brilliant paleskinned foundation. Their shapetape concealer is the only one ive been able to find thats light enough. If you have a look on QVC they often do bundles that are really good value.

Doll 10 do a fantastic ( very) pale tinted primer that I often use instead of foundation.

LongLostDog · 17/01/2024 15:21

Last time I wanted to change foundation I went round the beauty counters (Lancôme, Clinique etc) and they were all happy to give samples - most had little pots under the counter they can fill up for you. Only place that didn’t was SpaceNK and they advised I nip to Superdrug and come back with a travel pot, which I did!

Just say you want to be able to see how it applies and check it in different lights if they offer to just test it on your jawline.

I’m super pale and use Mac NC13 and they go even paler.

TheGoddessFrigg · 17/01/2024 15:23

My natural skin colour is Sick Victorian Orphan with a hint of Blue.
I have tried absolutely everything and the only shades pale enough- with no pink- are one by CYO - which Boots discontinued (thanks!)- and a brand called Missguided sold in Superdrug whose Ivory really was Ivory. And it's embarrassing because it's obviously marketed to teenage girls and is in awful packaging. But the colour is perfect.

BB cream- Loreal Age Perfect Light - worked great inn the summer.
And AVOID Estee Lauder- even their lightest shade made me look orange
