OK I am ashamed to admit I have never gone anywhere to get this kind of treatment done. Tell me what to expect because I am scared.

I think you can expect pain

Oooh will watch with interest, I have been considering this too. I always do self preservation, but not being privvy to many other lady gardens (none in fact) ahve no idea how well preserved it should be before I even visit my salon. They may laugh at my bush for all i know.....

GentleOtter · 17/03/2008 13:59

Pain AND a rash.

Firefox · 17/03/2008 14:00

Is that pain during and/or after??

Dr Notherner - am v interested to see what condition it should be before the actual treatment

OP posts:
DrNortherner · 17/03/2008 14:01

Should you let it grow?

MerLINDT · 17/03/2008 14:02

Take a couple of painkillers before you go - it will take the edge of the pain!!

I would trim all around first, because longer hair = more pain .

I would not have a hot shower after either as it will iritate the area.

Before you go to bed I would apply some savalon to the area. (after the event that is - not before!)

Have a couple of paracetamol about half an hour before the said waxing.

The saving grace is that they have seen it all before .

BibiThree · 17/03/2008 14:05

My god! Is it really worth it?

binkleandflip · 17/03/2008 14:06

Do you mean literally what to expect?
ie the treatment itself?

Depending what you want you basically keep your knicks on and sit up with towel inbetween your legs and put one leg out to the side. The wax goes on and, the strip is smoothed onto the wax and R-R-R-I-I-I-P-P-P!!!!

Actually, it will hurt a bit but shouldnt be too painful if you get a good therapist. Your hairs need to be a least .5cm long to get a good grip.

Firefox · 17/03/2008 14:06

How long does it take??

paracetemol !!!!

robinpud · 17/03/2008 14:06

Pain, mild embarassment and a fervent wish to have it over with. If you want to use some of the lotions puported to prevent ingrowing hairs that can be worth it. Definitely strim before you go..

binkleandflip · 17/03/2008 14:07

Unless your skin is very sensitive or you are pregnant you shouldnt really bruise by the way, that is usually a sign that the strip has been pulled off at too much of right angle to the skin.

aGalChangedHerName · 17/03/2008 14:07

I used to have a brazillian reguarly and it was v painful but i liked taking most of the hair off.

However i would never get it done again, although i would exfoliate afterwards and apply lots of moisturiser etc i used to get ingrowing hairs which were awful. I had to go to the doc to have them lanced(last time i had 5) and aon ab's for ages.

I thin the majority of people are fine but it was torture during and after for me

Firefox · 17/03/2008 14:08

This is waaaayyyy tooo scarey. I think I might just keep to my own DIY methods.

OP posts:
binkleandflip · 17/03/2008 14:08

they should put on some after-wax lotion at the salon, but aloe vera will help.

When I was at college, (beauty school lol) we had to have all parts waxed so we could practice on each other. Now I am very dark with very coarse hair and I will tell you now, I would have my bikini line done all day before I would ever, ever have my armpits waxed again

MrsMattie · 17/03/2008 14:10

Waxing bikini line - OK. Hurts like fuck, but good if you are thinking of donning a bikini or skimpy knickers.

Brazilian / Hollywood etc ('going bare narni' as my good friend calls it ) = WRONG. So wrong. Waxing your fanjo?! I mean for crissakes, that's some weird kind of masochistic weirdness.

ZippiBabes · 17/03/2008 14:11

applying savlon before you go to bed

well that sounds attractive what is the point of a brazilian if you are going to taste like A&E

binkleandflip · 17/03/2008 14:12

that's probably why you're bruising sleepycat - It's not a problem healthwise, but they should have made you aware that you would be more likely to bruise whilst pregnant.

chickytwotimes · 17/03/2008 14:13

mrsmattie - i am in total agreement with you on this! Don't understanf the fashion for hairlessness atm!
