Stylish trousers with a stretch waist!

i hope someone here can understand my problem!

I have endometriosis issues. As a result of an operation that went wrong back in summer, I’m left totally unable to wear any of my jeans or buttoned trousers without horrible pain. Sadly I’m not much of a dress/skirt person so can’t get away with that.

I have been living in leggings or joggers, size up jeggings at the absolute limit - but as it seems this isn’t going away anytime soon I really would like to find some less casual trousers to wear!

Can anyone recommend some brands for stretchy waistband options? Something smart/structured and stylish for those rare occasions I need them? 😆

For reference I’m a UK 18 and 5’9.

M and S has many trousers of this kind. I have just had a hysterectomy myself, so am looking for similar.

BringMeTea · 12/12/2023 15:08

ME+EM if budget allows.

robell - you can get them on amazon and various boutiques

If you like cigarettes shape these Zara jogger waist trousers are great. I have several pairs as my waist is not in proportion to my hips. They are comfortable and smart.

DrNo007 · 12/12/2023 15:51

Not cheap but I love Brax Raphaela trousers with elasticated waist. They are slimming and last many years.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 12/12/2023 16:20

@ZaZathecat they look fab! and a great price too. Can I ask what the sizing is like and are they very long? (I don't have a store anywhere near me so would have to order online)

kurotora · 12/12/2023 16:27

Ooh yeah no, sadly budget does not allow! Maybe £30-40 or thereabouts ideally?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Clothing-MOVE-BEYOND/s?rh=n%3A83450031%2Cp_4%3AMOVE+BEYOND

This is just an example of the type I've got off Amazon for about £25, I've got two or three different pairs (depending on size at time!) The trick is to search for 'yoga bootcut' trousers, I have the first pair of Move Beyond ones currently. I would go up a size if you don't want anything hardly at all on your waist, or just your usual size if you don't mind the feeling of elastic (I'm not explaining this very well!)

you need Bon Marche perfectly acceptable elasticated waist trousers some people think the shop is "old lady" but the trousers are fine and they are a bit cheaper than M&S . I get them online and they have different leg lengths.

kurotora · 12/12/2023 17:00

How’s the quality on the Bon Marche ones? They do seem worth a punt for the price.

So far I really dig the Zara ones. Unsure if they/some of the others would fit though!

(apologies I’m really failing at quoting!)

I am a similar shape (naturally, not because of any medical issue 🙃) and I second the M&S ankle grazers. They used to be a much better quality fabric than they are this season though.

Cocolapew · 12/12/2023 19:09

I agree with Bon Marche I got a pair of trousers a few years ago from there and they are great, lovely heavy fabric and pockets.
Next and Matalan always have elasticated waist trousers and catalogues like Freemans and Bon Prix.

WhereAreWeNow · 12/12/2023 19:14

Uniqlo does some smart trousers with an elasticated panel in the waist. They do a longer length online (but not in shops).

Laiste · 12/12/2023 19:20

A lot of the 'palazzo pant' (wide leg trousers) you can buy are fully elasticated, if you have a google.

There are some lovely satiny versions around. The style is quite trendy at the mo. Nice with a fine roll neck jumper or similar.

I bought some on Amazon randomly on a whim a couple of years ago and found them so comfy. Now i've got various jersey ones, satin ones and i've just bought a couple of pairs of pure silk ones. They all have elasticated waist bands or deep stretchy jersey waist bands even though it wasn't something i was actively looking for.

QueenImprov · 12/12/2023 19:30

If you are on Instagram, follow Lottie Drynan. All the outfits she posts have comfy elasticated waists, as she struggles with bloating. I've had loads of ideas already.

SqueakyDinosaur · 12/12/2023 19:34

I have an incisional hernia after hysterectomy so massively distended stomach (and wasn't skinny to start with). I am living in Saint & Sofia Camden trousers. Pricy normally, but they do have good sales.

Edited

they are fine for the price more expensive ones are better quality but it's all I wear really I need the stretch because I have had several stomach operations so I need trousers to be comfy. I also wear the black jeans they have a botton but elastic.

Badtasteflump · 12/12/2023 19:43

Curve Appeal jeans are fab - they have a stretchy waistband which is brilliantly disguised as a 'normal' one on the outside. I think they're mainly sold in the US but I've seen them in TK Maxx before.

efeslight · 12/12/2023 19:43

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations, I also have endometriosis and a thin waist compared to my hips, so will be trying some of these

KirstenBlest · 12/12/2023 19:58

Try M&S, Brax and Robell
Bon Marche trousers are very comfortable
