People wear them for all occasions. Wondering where you live that you don’t see anyone in dresses. Interesting

Riverlee · 10/12/2023 10:48

I wear them for work , to the pub, going out for meals etc.

Even if other people are more casual, doesn’t stop you wearing them.

Embrace the dress!

PenguinWaiting · 10/12/2023 10:51

I'm wearing one right now, in a coffee shop.

JennieTheZebra · 10/12/2023 10:53

I only wear dresses and skirts. As a chunky hourglass, trousers are so uncomfortable and give me a completely weird shape. I even have the dress version of the nursing uniform. Dresses are pretty, comfortable and mean that you only have to think about 1 item of clothing. What’s not to love!

Caspianberg · 10/12/2023 10:53

All the time. I mean I don’t wear a glitter ball gown to clean house, but a simple comfy dress or skirt and top is my go to items. Wear more than jeans.
Im just home today, woolen knee length dress, with tights. Comfy

WinterParakeets · 10/12/2023 10:53

I wear them all the time. At a party last night most people were in separates but a few of us were in dresses. I tried on half a dozen outfits and nothing looked right until I put on a dress.

At work I always wear dresses.

I meet up with three friends every few weeks. Two of us always wear dresses, the other two never do.

Wear them. Allow your style to stand out a bit.

Wrongcrued · 10/12/2023 10:55

I always wear dresses, with wooly tights and dm's so maybe not in the way you were thinking but still dresses. Dresses in the summer with trainers or plimsols

IsadoraQuagmire · 10/12/2023 11:00

I wear dresses and skirts all the time, very rarely trousers and haven't owned a pair of jeans since I was about 10. It doesn't make any difference to me what anyone else is wearing.

HardcoreLadyType · 10/12/2023 11:02

I wear dresses, mostly for work.

In winter, with opaque tights, and comfy boots. In summer with trainers or brogues.

It’s quite a casual look.

I also wear them to parties and barbecues, and in the evening when I’m on holiday.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 10/12/2023 11:02

I wear dresses all the time , very, very occasionally skirts. I don't own trousers or jeans.

indecisivewoman81 · 10/12/2023 11:07

I wear dresses a lot. They flatter my shape and I wear them to work and to the pub/out in the evenings.

Nitgel · 10/12/2023 11:21

i will start wearing mine again. everyone just looks so casual not i don't like standing out

I wear one every day. I don’t own any trousers. A lot of my dresses are very casual.

Oldraver · 10/12/2023 12:22

I wear them whenever I'm not at work

pagansophie · 10/12/2023 12:30

If you wear dresses at home what do you wear on your feet?

RaininSummer · 10/12/2023 12:32

I wear one every day for work with leggings (for warmth as it's Baltic) and boots.

Groovee · 10/12/2023 12:33

I regularly wear dresses and if at work with leggings. But I love a wee dress.

StarlightLady · 10/12/2023 17:13

l wear dresses most of the time. To work, evening out, evening in. I’ve summer dresses and long sleeved winter weight ones. They are so practical and comfy.

l’d describe a lot of them as “casual” rather than “dressed up” (no pun intended£.

Plus you never have to consider which top goes with which bottoms.

l can’t do the leggings or trousers with a dress thing though. That is so not me.

I have a thick knitted dress on today, I've worn three different ones in the past three days. I wear dresses all the time, trousers are the exception for me.

That reminds me, it’s such a rare event for me that a while back someone had pinned a photo of me wearing trousers on a notice board at work and captioned it “Starlight in trousers”.

Obviously, I’ve changed my name to my username here.

gotomomo · 10/12/2023 17:52

I wear them to work, far more comfortable than trousers.

TheOGCCL · 10/12/2023 17:54

I see women all the time in dresses, in all different settings. There are some very versatile ones and you can dress them up and down. I don’t wear dresses myself but actually feel in the minority. Dresses are often more comfortable, flattering, don’t need to coordinate top and bottoms and make it look like you’ve made a bit of an effort.

Caspianberg · 10/12/2023 18:10

@pagansophie - erm slippers? Dress and tights on winter, with slippers. Same as if I wear trousers. We don’t wear shoes indoors

Aroundthewaygirl · 10/12/2023 18:22

I never wear dresses but I have a friend that only wears them and skirts. No matter what we do she wears one or the other. I say wear what you want whenever you want.

I hate following fashions and I never really have because trendy/current fashions sometimes doesn’t fit my body type or personality/tastes

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/12/2023 18:25

I wear dresses every day for work. Sometimes a skirt. I have no work-appropriate trousers, and we aren't allowed to wear jeans.

I wore a jumper dress yesterday, too. Love dresses.
