How many jumpers do you own?

I have 4, of which one is too small but is a cashmere roll neck, so can wear under coats, if sure not to take the coat off.

One is new £25 viscose and I never want to take it off. Just ordered the same in 2 other colours and a little embarrassed by this frivolity.

I have one merino v neck
One cotton v neck
Two viscose ballerina type cardigans
Three other cardigans
A massive cowl neck thick jumper

I also have three merino base layer tops (not technically jumpers but I do count them with my knitwear - if i didn't have these I'd probably need more jumpers)!

luckylavender · 10/12/2023 18:26

@MarieStellaMaris - nope. I live in the South East but have also lived in S Wales & the NW.

OnlyCorrect · 10/12/2023 15:23

Also loads.
People who don't have m/any jumpers, what do you wear 9 months of the year in the UK?

Sweatshirts if necessary. Shirt and cami. Long sleeved shirts.

luckylavender · 10/12/2023 18:28

Long sleeved tees that should say.

jay55 · 10/12/2023 18:30

I don't think I have any. I have a bunch of cashmere hoodies.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 10/12/2023 18:31

None unfortunately. Wool makes me itch.

oldestmumaintheworld · 10/12/2023 18:32

Lots all cashmere. I have been buying one a year for about twenty years and I look after them. Although there are now two that are full of holes (from wear not moth) that I only wear at home over PJs. I'm also lucky enough to have two that belonged to my mum and I think of her whenever I wear them.

Pipistrellus · 10/12/2023 18:33

Six, all secondhand lambswool or merino, £3 to £5 plus postage each. I don't wear acrylic, it doesn't keep me warm and needs washing too often.

Pipistrellus · 10/12/2023 18:34

Actually, that would be 7.

Trez1510 · 10/12/2023 18:36

Until a few months ago, I had zero.

I've now purchased approx. ten (high street cheap stuff). They are a revelation, and my energy usage has reduced substantially.

Don't know that I'd wear most of them to go out, though. That said, there are a couple, thin knit/better quality, that may see an airing.

SiobahnRoy · 10/12/2023 18:36

At least 20

TrifleLayer · 10/12/2023 18:36

I have a really manky old stretched out very warm arran jumper that I wear round the house only. Have two really nice jumpers that are decent that are merino and then I pinch some of DH on occasion. I have a couple of jumper dresses that I love.

Doggymummar · 10/12/2023 18:38

32 I counted them on Friday but maybe 2 were in the wash

Sweatshirts if necessary. Shirt and cami. Long sleeved shirts.

You must run really hot or have the heating cranked up. Except for the sweatshirt, I would wear all of those at once WITH a jumper over the top /lizardperson

Burgundylover · 10/12/2023 18:40

For those who don't wear jumpers, what do you wear in winter? I wear a jumper every day for around half the year. How do you keep warm otherwise? I do have camisol or thermal vest underneath and cardigan on top for most of the winter. How much is your heating bill if you don't wear warm clothes?

Riverlee · 10/12/2023 18:40

Now feeling embarrassed…

I must approx:
5 work jumpers/cardigans
5 sweatshirts/hoodies
5 everyday jumpers
5 cardigans

  • lighter summer cardigans and jumpers

(possibly more in each category)

(is a hoodie or sweatshirt not a jumper?)

luckylavender · 10/12/2023 18:42

@OnlyCorrect - I don't have the heating cranked up. I find jumpers really claustrophobic and unflattering. Small shoulders big chest. Make me look huge.

Calypsocuckoo · 10/12/2023 18:43

Just counted, I have 29 jumpers, a few cardigans, a few thinner jumpers that are more like tops, and 7 jumper dresses (which are my favourite things to wear at the moment, tights and a vest and a jumper dress and I am put together ready for work, I found one I love from m and s so have it in three colours 😊).
oh and I have three Christmas jumpers as well.

AHFaemale · 10/12/2023 18:44

luckylavender · 10/12/2023 15:18

0 & 0 cardigans either.

what do you wear in colder months? even if you are living in the southern hemisphere you do need warmer things.

Lemonademoney · 10/12/2023 18:46

Ever increasing amounts 😁

AHFaemale · 10/12/2023 18:49

I usually buy a couple of cashmere jumpers every winter so I have probably about 15 jumpers and cardigans. Wear them all winter with a thermal vest underneath. Interestingly my oldest (and first ever cashmere purchase) is still on the go. Also my cheapest.
I bought a GAP (shop I never go in now) black cashmere cardigan about 19 years ago. I still have it and wear it and it still looks really good ( I know...surprising)

That sounds about the same as me. I have some chunky wool jumpers I've had 30 years and only wear occasionally. I have cashmere jumpers I wear all the time. Some I've bought over the years and loads inherited from my mother.
I love jumper dresses with thick tights and boots. Easy peasey warm outfit to wear at all times.
I also knit, so have lots of handmade fairisle jumpers.

Christmasss · 10/12/2023 19:12

4

luckylavender · 10/12/2023 19:13

@AHFaemale - I don't

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 10/12/2023 22:09

Lots! (Not sure how many but probably over 20.) In my defence, about half of them were second-hand. I can't imagine not wearing them at all, but I could probably manage with about 6 if I had to.
