Fortnum & Mason Advent Calendar 2023 opening thread

I’m hoping you’ll join me to discuss the Fortnum & Mason advent calendar. As is usual shall we wait until 07.00 to discuss that day’s gift?

It'll be interesting to see how people on the main threads find their calendars. There was a lot of love for Space NK, Selfridges, LF, OK, M&S and Vogue on the buying thread, and very little for F&M, Harrods or Sephora (which were my top three). I wonder if people will feel the same after opening. Looking at the opening threads I still think I made the right choice.

Me too - love Olverum the bath oil is lovely. I guess F&M had two AA bath oils and didn’t think bath junkies could use a third (I could have used a third, even if it was 10 ml, over a small body moisturiser).

I’ll take it over bum bum…my dd says that is all the rage with teens.

F&M still had the most solid offering even though one or two more DODs this year

In case you wonder why I’ve gone a bit quiet, it’s just that I’m away for the next few days so I’m going to catch up with my calendar opening when I get home.

Today we have the vegan Delilah travel brush set. At first this looked lovely but I'm not sure about it. The brushes are quite small and I'm not sure if I'll use it. Thoughts?

Morning everyone and thanks for the photo @Possimpible I did unbox this one last night as I wanted to take them with me. Travel size brushes seem like a great space saver but why put them in a large rigid case? I’ll use them while I’m away and then give my verdict.

I had same wonder about size of case vs size of brushes. I feel either full sized brushes and better use of case or smaller case would’ve been better but it’s still ok. Will try them later!

Day 8 - 250ml Bramley bubble bath. This is nice I suppose, it's a good size. I'm hoping for some skincare tomorrow I think.

I feel the same - a lovely face serum would be perfect. I haven’t looked at what was in the calendar so have literally no idea what’s coming!

This isn't particularly exciting today! It's a decent size which I like but I'm looking forward to some skin care products too.

I examined the contents in detail, but it was back in August/September! This is my 6th year of having a beauty advent and the first one where I've successfully managed to forget most of the contents by December. I'm expecting two more DoDs personally, as I can remember a couple of the less exciting (for me) things, but overall it must have been a good list to make me choose this over Harrods. IMO it was a great start, but 6, 7 and 8 have been three meh days in a row.

Fortnums heard our prayers - 15ml Wildsmith eye serum today! I don't particularly struggle with dark circles, but I do get eye bags so will give it a go. RRP £90 so I'm expecting miracles. I've used the Wildsmith copper peptide face cream before and liked it.

I’m pleased with this one too, have read really good reviews so fingers crossed to banish my lines and dark shadows!!

Tried the tiny body moisturiser this morning. It was very light and absorbed easily. Not sure I’d repurchase but happy enough with it

I remembered that this eye serum was one of the reasons I chose this calendar (I also bought early and have done a good job at forgetting what the calendar has!)

Yes this eye serum was a key thing I wanted too - actually opened this a few weeks back, as had completely run out. Think it is helping but will have to see by the end of the bottle! The wildsmith stuff smells so nice…

Hmm not sure about today. 15ml Dreem Distillery Moonlit Sleep Mask. The site says 'our enhanced formula helps nourish, hydrate, plump, and calm' and has various things including CBD and kaolin in it. I'll give it a go, I did say I wanted skincare so I'm not sure why I'm feeling a bit ambivalent today. Also can't find this on the F&M site to read reviews.

Day 11 - 50ml Garden Song hand cream. Apparently this is worth £20?! Seems a lot for a hand cream (I usually use Aveeno 😂). I'll definitely use it

I had a bath last night and used the bath salts, the cult51 mask and then the dreem distillery mask. I feel great this morning.

I rarely use handcream (and have about 20 in my nailcare box) so I am very likely to give this to my mam.

I’m glad to see the eye serum although I’ve just started on a Ren eye cream which will probably take months to use up before I get round to giving it a go. Not heard of the night mask brand though. F&M hand cream should be good and I tend to use them as body cream if the hand cream stash gets too big.
The travel brushes seemed good although I did take my foundation brush with me to supplement them. Still don’t know what to do with the case they came in. Anyone got any ideas?
@Possimpible you have done a grand job with the photos. Are you happy to carry on?

I’m an absolute monkey for having 2 or 3 serums and moisturisers on the go at once - I figure that way I’m getting all the benefits from all of them 😂😂

Tried Bramley bubbles tonight - impressively bubbly, nice smell, happy with that.
