Any suggestions for my hair?

Hi , I am looking for suggestions on my hair.
I love to wear it styled and curled when the hairdresser does it but it never lasted. This is how I wear it when I style it myself. I am in my mid 50"s and I don't want to cut it too short.

I really like it, it looks natural, thick and healthy. I don't think it needs changing but a subtle caramel balayage would look good if you fancy a change.

Devinewine · 24/11/2023 16:14

I agree it's lovely as it is, as the pp said some caramel could look good. Just make sure to go to someone really good.

If were me I wouldn't do thing, I am just a little envious of your hair.

I think a bob would look good @Primrosehillgirl . Long hair can be very aging over 50 or even earlier. I would also go lighter as it's very dark for someone your age.

I'm just rolling my eyes at your comments.

OP your hair looks in great condition.
Nice length and colour.

Highlanderstory · 24/11/2023 17:09

Your hair is fab OP , it looks super healthy, I wouldn't do too much to it.

@Starview Your comment can only be jealousy. You can tell the op looks fabulous for her age. Although long hair is great at any age.

Mumsanetta · 24/11/2023 17:49

You have beautiful hair (and skin). I wouldn’t do a thing to it. But if you must, I also agree with some caramel tones. A lower risk option would be to change your parting - a centre/near centre parting is very on trend. For long lasting curls or body, try one of those robe devices that you wear overnight or a revlon round brush.

caringcarer · 24/11/2023 17:55

You could tong it for a curled look for a change. Or put it up. On YouTube they have some great updos that look sophisticated but when they show you how it's done it looks simple.

Torganer · 24/11/2023 17:55

Blunt bob and fringe, get the layers cut out.

CharlotteRumpling · 24/11/2023 17:56

You have such a nice chin, and a great heart shaped face. I know you said you don't want to go too short but a pixie might look good. Failing that, a choppy bob?

Torganer · 24/11/2023 17:57

Something like this

Your face shape reminds me of Reese Witherspoon, so maybe see what she is doing these days?

Snippit · 24/11/2023 18:06

Don’t have a bob, nowhere nearly as versatile. It looks lovely but if you’re really bored with it have some shorter soft layers around the face, starting at chin length. If you don’t like it it won’t take long to grow out, and you can still tie it up.

Devinewine · 24/11/2023 21:52

I definitely wouldn't go for a bob. They are very hard to style once you leave the salon.

What a ludicrous comment, honestly can’t believe any one still thinks that.😂😱

op, your hair is great, personally I’d grow it about two or three inches longer, please don’t go for the ubiquitous bob.

heyhohello · 24/11/2023 22:15

Your hair looks lovely as is. But is you fancy lasting curls I can tell you how I do mine. Hair mousse on dry hair. Comb through. Heated rollers. Leave in about 10 minutes. Take out and put all the pins and everything away. Brush through.

Primrosehillgirl · 24/11/2023 23:22

Thank you for the suggestions, I will definitely give your method a try @heyhohello .
I don't think a bob is for me but I like the sound of the caramel highlights. I might try and grow it a bit longer like you suggested @Frasers.

I would grow that very short fringe out (unless it's just the photo?) and I agree break it up with some lighter pieces

SwedishSchnauzer · 25/11/2023 00:05

You look beautiful even with the red scribble. How about something more trendy.

These caramel highlights could look good OP, I personally wouldn't change the colour because I would love shiny dark hair. A few inches longer would be lovely because your hair looks so healthy.

I would grow the fringe out, and go for a centre parting.
Then I think slightly Farrah Fawcett style layers so you can flick away from the face.
I would go for some subtle highlighting around the front in a warm colour.
Otherwise, grow out the fringe, and experiment with putting the front section up. Add a see through fringe if you feel it needs softening.

Doggymummar · 25/11/2023 09:36

Beautiful hair glossy and thick, if it's your natural colour you've done amazing, I was the same and white in my 40s. No sign of Grey's coming in. I would grow the fringe I think it looks a little incongruous with the rest but other than that, nada, just beautiful

ChanelNo19EDT · 25/11/2023 10:10

You're chin is lovely, like Jennifer Anniston's, so I would go for a bob about 4cm longer than chin length. That looked lovely on JA

Primrosehillgirl · 25/11/2023 11:02

Thank you all for the great suggestions, @ChanelNo19EDT JA that compliment has made my day !
