Uniqlo will steal your returned items and not refund!

Don’t believe me, just look at their TrustPilot. Lots of people have sent returns and thieves have stolen the items at the Uniqlo warehouse, and they haven’t been refunded.

I went on to write a review about the exact same thing and saw all of these other reviews. Wish I’d seen it before ordering. I ordered a coat in different sizes and only kept one. Uniqlo has refunded one beanie hat that was in the parcel but hasn’t refunded the coats worth nearly £200. They investigated and they claim I didn’t send them! Case closed, no refund. But they can’t explain how a parcel with only a beanie hat in it was weighed as over 1kg when it was picked up by Evri.

Avoid unless you want to be robbed!

I've heard they do this and so didn't place a large order with them I was going to. Seems like it happens way too often to be accidental!

I would raise a chargeback if you paid by debit card or credit card. You don't have the money or the items. Maybe raise with trading standards too. They may do something if they get lots of complaints. I would also consider writing to one of those consumer "agony aunts" in a paper. See if they can get involved.

For that money might be worth also considering small claims as you have the weight evidence.

EllaPaella · 14/11/2023 12:17

If you order through Klarna on 'pay later' they cannot refuse a refund as once you prove the item has been returned via tracking then Klarna will make them issue a return and you won't be liable for any payment.

Zimunya · 14/11/2023 12:21

I don'y buy from Uniqlo anyway, but this is really shocking! So sorry. OP. It's clearly a well documented problem, yet they've done nothing to tighten up their warehouse system.

WeRateSquirrels · 14/11/2023 12:48

Did you pay with a credit card OP? I had a similar problem with Uniqlo and they only refunded once I threatened credit card dispute. Have never bought from them again - not worth the stress.

Margaritanosalt · 14/11/2023 12:55

Do you have a receipt from when you returned it? This should help your case

PuppyMcPupFace · 14/11/2023 12:58

I placed a massive order with them a couple of years ago and received a tracking number within a couple of days. A month later it still hadn't arrived and they admitted it had been stolen some time between leaving the warehouse and arriving at the courier.

funbags3 · 14/11/2023 13:32

Definitely contact your card provider! Shocking customer service. They always seem to be recommended on here for some strange reason.

The parcel has been returned but they’re saying there was only a hat inside, even though there was also two coats. They aren’t disputing that the parcel arrived, just disputing the contents.

Yes I have a receipt. They don’t dispute that they received the parcel. Just that there was 3 items inside.. they only refunded for the hat.

This is even more fraudulent because the parcel hasn’t gone missing. Warehouse staff have opened it and refunded one item, then stolen the other two.

I had this with another department store. In my case it was two expensive dresses for a wedding and a inexpensive bag. I got the refund for the bag but not the dresses. Got told the same as you. I told them I had tracking with the weight of package and I would be requesting a chargeback on the entire order. Had a bit of going over and back but eventually they did an "audit" of their returns room and my dresses were found.

Winwit · 14/11/2023 14:49

I’ve never had this happen with any store other than Uniqlo. Shocked to be honest considering they’re such a big company which has high street stores and does designer collaborations and stuff. I thought they were a proper company that could be trusted. But it’s obviously happening a lot judging by the reviews.

RavenT · 14/11/2023 15:22

I've always found Uniqlo returns system a bit clunky.

I can't remember the specifics, but I know I've tried to return items to them before and it wasn't clear how you return more than one item at a time in the same parcel iyswim,...

It's put me off ordering from them again!

Tremblingmadness · 14/11/2023 15:51

Sad to say I had a similar issue with Hobbs. It was only when I involved my CC company that they ‘found’ my return and credited my money.

I also stress every time I have to return to The White Company, following several long delays in receiving a credit.

There are many companies I avoid because of their Trustpilot reviews. Frustrating when they have something I really like, but just not worth the aggro.

ErnestCelendine · 14/11/2023 15:53

I had the same with Uniqlo. Finally got my refund but can't face ordering again as it was so stressful!

TheOriginalMrsMoss · 15/11/2023 12:56

I think this is becoming a 'thing' in 2 ways; firstly, some companies are terrible at refunding returns quickly and often have to be chased and secondly, courier and warehouse fraud.

Most of us are terrible at keeping track of returns, especially when they take a while. Imagine how much extra revenue is generated by 'forgotten' returns.

I also think warehouse/courier fraud is huge. I used to wonder about all the current stock items for sale BNWT on Ebay - now I don't!

I recently had to order a huge amount of stuff to kit out 6 of us for a wedding. I noticed that I wasn't receiving a refund for some returns so I created a spreadsheet to keep track of everything. I'm glad I did because I had to chase refunds for 25% of the orders.

Two massive orders from Next disappeared into the ether, shown as dispatched but never delivered. I had to chase this multiple times and had a really disappointing resolution from them. They basically acted bored and shrugged at me - a different person every time. I had always really rated Next for customer service until this by I was treated appallingly.

GettingStuffed · 15/11/2023 13:15

I used to work with someone who had previously worked for a courier company, years ago when they were more a business to business service. They wer told that a number of things always got "damaged " and they could help themselves to the "damaged" items. Cue lots of oh this container of designer trainers has been damaged

I'm sure some people still behave like this. I had a dress go missing from Toast and they refunded me within 48 hrs

purplecorkheart · 15/11/2023 13:40

Sorry if this has been asked before and I missed it.

Did they provide a prepaid label for the return or tell you to return via a particular courier?

canyon2000 · 15/11/2023 15:58

I had this issue with Next but they refunded pretty quickly after an 'investigation'. They probably saw how much I spend with them and didn't want to piss me off😁

Prepaid label. The courier wasn’t the problem. The warehouse has clearly received the parcel, unpacked it and refunded me for one item out of four that were in the parcel.

That's terrible and quite worrying

Pigeonqueen · 15/11/2023 20:46

I had the same thing with them. 2 T shirts. Never refunded despite me chasing them / providing bank account statements showing the refund hadn’t gone in / courier receipts etc. I will never order anything from them again. Terrible company.

periodiclabel · 14/04/2024 16:14

i’m reviving this thread as this has just happened to me – eight items returned only refunded for two. it happened before but they did refund me when I queried it, this time I’ve been told no dice. “This will be disappointing to you” 😡Those of you reading this who did eventually get a refund what did you do? Keep emailing them? I’m going to raise it with my credit card company but it’s really hassle i could be doing without. I’m so angry about this now I realise it’s a regular scam. i’m never going to buy online from Uniqlo again.

I'm worried - collected my online order at a London store yesterday. I tried to get a refund for one item that didn't fit but was told I couldn't do this instore. I'm hoping I don't have any issues doing an online return...
