I want Gillian Taylforth's ageing gene

I'm no soap fan, I last watched a soap regularly probably 30 years ago. But I put the telly on just now and Eastenders happened to be on, and I recognised Gillian Taylforth from when I used to watch it years and years ago. She hasn't aged!! I mean she literally still looks EXACTLY the same as she did all those years ago, and she's 68. Some of the younger longterm characters haven't aged half as well.

I mean she must have had botox done or something to look like that. I'm 50 and she looks younger than me and I'm jealous. Do some people just age slower than others or something?

I thought she had passed away. I'm going for a google

I’m guessing a face and neck lift as well as filler type work, because she has no sagging and a very tight jawline for 68.

She looks well on it though, so she got someone good -

Yeah it's the lack of jowly sagging, maybe? But it looks really natural to me. No tight pulling at the temples. The skin on my face is heading south so fast, I'd just like to know if she'd found an amazing non-surgical alternative. I guess not. 😏

I saw an article on her where she'd had some kind of mini facelift. That would help!!

Google suggests her current partner is the director of a cosmetic surgery clinic 😳. It’s not a huge leap ……..

I always think what good work she's had done. Compared to the others on Eastenders who've had bog standard work done she looks incredible.
She doesn't look overly plump or pulled at all.

I think she just looked very old when she was still relatively young, which makes it look like she hasn’t aged much.

Funnily enough I happened to have Eastenders on, haven't watched it in years and caught a glimpse of her and though exactly the same! Looked completely 'untouched' and natural, and better than some of the younger actresses on it. Need to know her secret.....

I'm always amazed when people say she's aged well and naturally because I think the work is so obvious. She looks younger than her on-screen son now.

Yeah I was looking back at some old Eastender photos from the 80s and she probably looked older than she was, good point.

The facelifts that are done today are a much better technique than the wind tunnel looks of years ago. Instead of just pulling the skin, they lift the smas layer as well and in a more vertical direction, so it looks far much more natural.

In many of the results I have seen it looks far better than a face full of filler tbh. I plan on getting one done in 10 years or so.

Definitely just good genes.

I said the same thing the other day. Haven't watched Eastenders for years, switched it on and there she was looking exactly the same. Sharon, on the other hand looks terrible.

Funnily enough I saw Eastenders the other day for the first time in ages and was surprised to see 'Cathy' now looks younger than 'Cindy' who was I think married to Ian. Cindy looks older than her mother-in-law (ex mil I think?).

It reminds me how much time has past since the old days of Ian, Sharon etc back in the 90's.

She looks incredible! Definitely had some cosmetic surgery though.
The most obvious sign is the upper lid - if you look at photos of her from the 80s she had a hooded upper lid, lots of skin and not much of the lower lid visible. Now she has a much more open eye, with far more of the lid visible and high brow arch (though she’s always had good arches) - this is tell tale of cosmetic work on the eyes. Plus the lack of sag in the face indicates a full lift (probably including neck).

Face lifts are a totally different business to back in the day and they are often performed behind the hair line - hence no horrible front of the ear scaring.

Apparently it is better to lift than fill the face as we age. I also will be saving up for a pony tail face lift when I’m about 60!

I remember reading a while back (cos I like a bit of soap gossip 😁) that she’s had some kind of non-surgical facelift-not sure how that works, but she looks great!

I think Ian is roughly same age as me, so 55, so I can't compute how old she is supposed to be in Eastenders. Not 68 surely?

Lots of expensive work from her beautician and cosmetic surgeon.

Yes She looks great (and seems a really nice lady too) but money helps and how many women of 68 do you know who have totally smooth foreheads without a fair bit of regular help
