What exactly is the Pob haircut and is it completely out of fashion now?

If a pob is a bob which is cut in at the nape of the neck and looks like a normal bob at the front, then I had mine cut in this style a couple of years ago and I loved it.
Its now a grown out bob, not had it cut since before christmas and it needs a bit of a tidy up.
The thing is, though I loved it when it was a pob but I'm not sure exacly what to ask for.

If anyone can make any sense of this this morning, can you please give me your advice - should I get it cut like a pob again or will it look naff?

If you liked it and it suited you, then have it again
Can you take a picture of yourself when you liked it into the salon?

I think it is exactly as you described and sounds lovely. Do it!

Flier · 11/03/2008 12:19

thanks. must admit that I would never have got it done in the first place if I'd known it was a VB haircut.
Just got to find a decent hairdresser now

I got an accidental pob 2 weeks ago and I love it! It's neat but a bit funky and short enough not to get baby puke on it. I've been complimented on it many times. I say go for it!

thanks. Ledogy thats exactly what I liked about mine, its really easy to keep neat and also quite funky.
Motherfunk what face shape would you say suits a pob/bob?

like here?

I really like it, shame it would never suit me

Flier · 11/03/2008 12:47

a bit like that Belgo, maybe a little less funky, more like this

Mine is like that except it graduates more neatly from the short to the longer front rather than going from really short to straight to long iyswim.

captainmummy · 11/03/2008 12:53

That's what I've got! I got it done 2 weeks ago, having wanted one for ages (and then my next-door neighbour got one before christmas so I couldn't copy her) - anyway, it's still quite short at the front so I'm growing it down.

I didn't know it was out of fashion - i had a 'princess diana' before!

my link didn't work too well, meant to link to Pic Number 4, but 2 and 3 are good too pic I linked was a mess!

Ask for a Nancy Kwan. A classic bob created by Vidal Sassoon in 1963 cut longer at the front than the back that she wore for the film 'A Wild Affair'

Chances are your hairdresser won't know what you are talking about though

Pob, pah.

Ledodgy · 11/03/2008 12:55

like this but a tad longer and no I do not look like her unfortunately!

Flier · 11/03/2008 12:55

captainmummy, from what I've seen this morning, its not out of date at all and its so true that you wear what suits you, rather than what fashion "dictates".

Mine also doesn't stick out as much at the back as in your pic 4 Flier it's flatter to my head.

crumpet · 11/03/2008 12:56

Isn't it called a Pob because Posh Spice got a bob?

Ledodgy · 11/03/2008 12:57

actually mine is nothing like the pic I put up!

Ledodgy · 11/03/2008 12:59

It looks like your pic 3 from the front but I don't think it goes up as short at the back.

Ledodgy · 11/03/2008 13:01

No just checked in the mirror mine is not as short at the back.

S1ur · 11/03/2008 13:01

yes crumpet

Flier · 11/03/2008 13:01

it is crumpet yes. been looking at SueW's Nancy Kwan's haircut, but can't get a decent link, very much like a "pob"

OP posts:
Flier · 11/03/2008 13:02

Ledodgy, I think posh got hers quite short at the back to start with, but kept it longer, which is less extreme looking.
