Winter shirt dress

I'm looking for a belted shirt dress to wear this winter and am drawing a blank - wondered if anyone can help please? I'm a size 12-14, 5'8 and want something long sleeved to wear for every day, midi or calf length. I work from home and I'd like something that feels a bit cosy ie. flannel rather than viscose, so don't mind paying a bit more for the right dress.

Here's the tricky bit - I hate fussy dresses so don't want pouffy sleeves, frills or tiered skirts. I'd prefer something with blue/purple/green (yellow/brown/rust don't suit me), don't mind a pattern or check/animal prints but don't like small ditsy florals.

Have tried John Lewis, M&S, Hobbs, Jigsaw, Cos,Arket,H&M, Poetry, Found a couple of Brora check dresses I liked but they have 3/4 sleeves so no good; also a Ralph Lauren checked one but it's black and white so not my preferred colours. If anyone can find anything, I would be very grateful. Didn't think it would be this hard!!

Also looked at White Stuff, Boden,Phase Eight. I know corduroy would probably be the obvious for cosiness it find it too bulky. Feel like I'm looking for something that doesn't exist!

I have one from GAP that's probably 3-4 years old but fits those criteria. Might be worth a look on Vinted.

It's like this, looks quite flattering on once the belt is cinched in. Mine is more burgundy colours.

Hobbs had some when I was looking for something similar a few weeks ago

The Gap one would work @MissRainbowBrite, but it's too short. I really want a midi/calf length. Have looked on eBay but maybe need to widen my search. Love the colour of that cord one @boxcar but too short, cord is too bulky as I've mentioned and the breast pockets will do me no favours sadly!

Uniqlo often do long shirt dresses. Their clothes are always pretty much frill and fuss free so fit that part of the brief.

I would just search Vinted to be honest if you have tried so many places already, it's probably just not in the shops right now

Thanks - I thought of Uniqlo but they don't have anything at the moment. Fed up with all the fussy Little House on the Prairie-style dresses at the moment - they've been around for ages and I long for something a little more simple!

Try New Look

stringbean · 05/11/2023 22:38

Thank you for all the links - like the shape of the New Look dresses but I don't want polyester (too sweaty - menopausal) or viscose (too wrinkly). Will keep looking!
