travelling outfit - good well cut trousers or smart jeans, cashmere top and jacket or coat, nice boots. Don't overdress. Aim for casual lux

M&S has great cashmere at the mo. if you are large of nork go for v neck

nailpolish · 10/03/2008 15:37

gleneagles is just lovely

for the evening id wear a simple shift and some eye catching accessories

jaeger have an amazing sale just now - they have nice dresses and some lovely jackets and trousers.

for travelling id wear a comfy pair of wool trousers and a smart fitted jacket. you want to feel/look good when you go in to reception

Thanks PPH want to compile a list before I actually go shopping. I did buy some things and they all went back , am starting to panic a little as you can imagine.

id head to karen millen too
hwat about a personal shopper? loads of stores have them now, would stop the panic buying ...

bobsyouruncle · 10/03/2008 15:41

oooooh you lucky thing, am . dh has been working there quite a bit recently and comes home full of how lovely it is! He never offers to take me though Enjoy!

brookeslay · 10/03/2008 15:47

ohhh thanks for the jaeger link. I`ve not been to Gleneagles before but, as there is a new Spa opening and the spa day is priced £185 instead of £285 its my treat.

My wardrobe is so full of things that don`t fit or black things so the neutral jacket seems a good idea.

Thanks bobyouruncle its looks lovely in the brochure they sent us. I`m not sure a personnel shopper would be able to fit me in time (who knows??). I know Selfidges and John Lewis have them.

brookeslay · 10/03/2008 16:10

Will ring JL . Made a little list:

  1. Slim fitting dress above knee
  2. High heels with little wow factor
  3. Two tops for wearing under jacket ( style to be determined)
  4. Knee high boots ( Lk Bennett slim style)
  5. neutral jacket
  6. swimsuit
  7. A more dressy top ??
  8. skirt

Phew at least that gives me something to aim for.

Oh am very I was lucky enough to go on a work jolly there a couple of years ago and LOVED it, it is GORGEOUS. Agree, get a nice cashmere jumper and wear it with fitted trousers. Bring trainers and go for lovely walk all around the stunning countryside. there is a nice pool and spa too.

brookeslay · 11/03/2008 10:42

Thanks Carmenere will dig trainers out. Booking hair appointment today and shopping trip is next week with Caroline at JL.

fantastic! you are going to have so much fun. i absolutely love weekends away at grand hotels (esp with spas)

ggglmpp · 11/03/2008 14:50

Nice underwear - you have to have some good decent matching underwear - one stunning set (eg La Perla or Aubade, a couple of nice sets and two or three pretty cheap and cheerful sets.)

expatinscotland · 11/03/2008 14:53

A golf umbrella. It's been a very wet year, even for the East.

brookeslay · 11/03/2008 15:23

Thanks nailpolish. I hope everything goes to plan. Re undies I have two prima donna bras that fit the LNL (Large Nork Lady)

I thought about an umbrella ( just in case) my DP has a couple in the car, though I found a website called brolliesgalore and they are 10.00 for those clear ones. As He is 62 and Im 54 we dont fit well together under brollies ..lol.

Not wardrobe related but watch out for the speed camera on the main road behind the sign.
