Please help me oh wise S&B owls - I think i've found what I want but not sure I have £165 to spend. I am looking for as close to these as possible but ideally cheaper
Jigsaw ideal ones

Requirements -

  • tallish but not too tall - fat calves would mean i just wouldn't get them on.
  • Chunky but not too chunky and not cleated (am 45, don't want to look try hard)
  • To wear almost exclusively with longish skirts, so not too masculine a style.

Closest I've found that could work:
Other stories - too masculine/size may be sold out

Hush - too much like wellies?

Next - cheap but too welly-ish?

I recognise i'm being the fussiest minx out there (but surely that's ok on the S&B board??) If you can help please suggest somewhere i've not thought to look.

Thanks!

M&S have some really nice ones at the moment. I picked up the ones that @TryAgainWithFeeling posted above at the weekend, but i don't really need them so was really good and put them down again ! They are gorgeous.
These are lovely... not much cheaper than the jigsaw ones though

@LadyHag , OP said i'm not sure I like the cleated look (spent my uni days in Docs and am kind of over the super-clumpy feeling)

@hollyblueivy , OP isn't looking for DMs

May be too chunky for you, but Blundstone Chelsea boots are my go-to boots fur everything. I've bern wearing them with almost everything for 25 years or so. One pairs lasts about 7-8 years.

Hocuspocus99 · 17/10/2023 14:55

Try the Pavers website , I’ve just bought a pair for my daughter , wanted a patent black moc croc pair and these were the only ones we could find . Also have leather, the brand is Bellissimo

MonikerBing · 17/10/2023 17:04

I like these at the Outnet

MonikerBing · 17/10/2023 17:06

They also have these

SundayAnon · 17/10/2023 17:19

I buy a pair of these every two years (I'm on my third set) - I wear them practically every day in Autumn and Winter.
The only downside is that the soles were once slippery when I was walking on wet cobbles.
Other than that, they're perfect:

I have the Barbour Nina ones, I bought them from House of Fraser last year when they were on offer, and they were so comfortable straight away that I immediately bought a second pair which will be brought out when these current ones have run their course.

Not much cheaper than your Jigsaw ones at the moment, but you should be able to find a good offer if you're not in too much of a rush.

I've recently bought these:

I don't expect them to last forever but they are very versatile and comfy.

TomatoSandwiches · 17/10/2023 21:24

I got a these basic ones from Clarks as I had a 20% voucher.
They're really good, comfortable for the school run every morning in them and they go with pretty much everything tbh.

You guys are great - some really good suggestions here. But i've gone ahead and bought some boots! Not the Jigsaw ones - still the best but I didnt' feel i could justify the spend (because i'm trying to make myself wear boots but honestly i'd rather wear trainers, so i'm not sure i will take to wearing them, and therefore didnt' want to invest so much just yet?) These are pretty good - surprisingly comfortable for first wear.

Ok.

I was about to suggest doing a search for leather jodphur boots (best make sure they are leather as the cheaper ones are often synthetic). I just bought These ones (wrong size for you but right idea). Normally I buy from Robinson's UK but this time I couldn't get exactly what I wanted from them and spotted the Dublin ones on Amazon. I have wide fitting feet and they fit me well. I find proper riding ones are harder wearing than fashion retail ones.

@Supportyourlocal , that site looks a bit dodgy.
