Please help me oh wise S&B owls - I think i've found what I want but not sure I have £165 to spend. I am looking for as close to these as possible but ideally cheaper
Jigsaw ideal ones

Requirements -

  • tallish but not too tall - fat calves would mean i just wouldn't get them on.
  • Chunky but not too chunky and not cleated (am 45, don't want to look try hard)
  • To wear almost exclusively with longish skirts, so not too masculine a style.

Closest I've found that could work:
Other stories - too masculine/size may be sold out

Hush - too much like wellies?

Next - cheap but too welly-ish?

I recognise i'm being the fussiest minx out there (but surely that's ok on the S&B board??) If you can help please suggest somewhere i've not thought to look.

Thanks!

Just get the Jigsaw ones. The Hush and Next ones aren't great.
If you want cheap, Primark do ones for £20

Your age shouldn't make a difference, wear what you want to wear.

Fedupwitheveryone · 02/10/2023 19:36

@FayCarew i'm not overly worried about dressing 'too young' more that i'm not sure I like the cleated look (spent my uni days in Docs and am kind of over the super-clumpy feeling)
Also don't love them with skirts.

those M&S ones are really nice, but too narrow for me i'm sure

those Alba ones are just a bit too hobnail boot Victorian for me? can't quite explain it.

However, those Asda ones are very good for £45. Not quite what i'm looking for but I might try to see them in real life (Asda actually being a shop near me IRL)

Thanks for the input everyone, appreciate it

Anyone who uses the term Minx is probably my type of person .

I desperately want these Birkenstock Chelsea boots but am not sure I can justify the price . https://www.birkenstock.com/gb/highwood-slip-on-women/highwood-gripwalk-naturalleather-0-rubber-w_1.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-N_n2Zz7gQMViFFBAh3PEwmUEAQYCCABEgL5FPD_BwE

I realize these aren’t hitting your brief!

Use the 15% code and get the boots of your dreams - if you can stretch to this !!

How about these? La Redoute has lots of similar.

I love my Fly London Salv but I do try to wait until there are deals on them (eg they were in the prime sale)

TheOGCCL · 17/10/2023 09:11

The Jigsaw ones reminded me of this style from Clarks

The Jigsaw ones are the nicest. Really nice.

NCGrandParent · 17/10/2023 10:05

When you say you can't afford the jigsaw ones do you mean you can't imagine yourself paying that much? Or you actually do not have that type of money to spend on boots? If it's the first one then in sure many posters can help you justify the cost... If they are your perfect boot, if they seem well made, good quality, they are comfortable, look good with your wardrobe, then just buy them. They will last you years and years. If you can't afford them then you will likely have to compromise on some aspect but can definitely get a decent pair for cheaper. Just make sure they're leather. Some shoe styles can cope with synthetic uppers, but I don't think Chelsea boots can - end up looking like little wellies.

FayCarew · 17/10/2023 10:06

@falalalalal , I have those and love them, but they might be too DM-like for OP.

I've had boots and shoes from Asda and they were comfortable, hardwearing and cheap. When I gave an old pair of boots to the charity shop they got more than what I originally paid for them.

MonkeypuzzleClimber · 17/10/2023 10:17

And a 5, though only £25 cheaper than retail price
