Teen trainers with dresses

So my teenager has a party and she has a cute dress which she wants to wear with trainers. Fine- it's their fashion. But she has a pair of Nike air force ones but I'd like her to wear something a bit cooler/nicer rather than a running looking trainer. Any suggestions? I believe New balance is very 'cool'. Any thing you fashionistas can suggest?

my son’s just had a party for his sixteenth and all the girls were wearing dresses with air force ones. literally every one. i wish they’d been in fashion when i was a teenager!

Air force ones or air jordans. New Balance is what I wear and I'm nearly 50!

No the air force of ones are the more fashionable option for teens. My daughter and all get friends wear them with dresses or flatform high top converse

I wear New Balance and I'm 33. My teenager wears Air Force ones all the time with everything. Leave her to it, I do

This is absolutely none of your business.

Part of growing up is finding your own style. Also, she will know better what's in fashion amongst teens. Most of whom wouldn't been seen dead in new balance. It's an older woman trend

Okay. Will do. Hers a looking tatty so I guess that's what didn't look right. Although some converse are good too. She has black ones so maybe white this time.

I honestly have no idea what's on trend with teens, but I remember trainers had to be battered when I was a teen a hundred years ago

Dd2 had sports awards this summer, bit like prom ALL the girls were in slinky dresses with either air force or converse. Fair play to them

My DD tends to purposefully not like things that I wear (i.e. New Balance) she wears her converse if she wears a dress but I mostly just leave her to it.

I work with teenagers and have never seen any of them in new balance trainers. New balance trainers are very “mum” trainers and not remotely “cool” if you’re a teen.

Your daughter probably has a better idea of what is cool than you do. Let her wear the ones she wants.

Your daughter is going to know better than you what is in with her crowd.

By all means offer to help her give the AF1s a spruce up. Cleaning wipes/suede cleaner/washing the laces can work wonders

Flashback to the time my mum noticed my converse 'looking a bit scruffy' so put them in the washing machine. She was so pleased with herself I didn't have the heart to tell her I'd spent 6 months getting them that way 🤣

Air force ones, Nike dunks or converse are what my daughter and hoard of friends were.

don’t see many teens wearing new balance trainers here, it’s mostly mums I see wearing them.
