The UGG Lug boot?

I generally hate wearing winter boots, I feel much better in trainers / Birkenstocks which thankfully suit the weather for a big part of the year but there's another big part where they're not suitable and boots are the most practical choice.

Boots always feel fussy and overdressed to me for the school run, dog walks etc. Our walk to school is through a park and sometimes when the weather is particularly awful, only wellies will do but they make me feel scruffy and I'm in danger of just slipping into wearing them every day for the whole of the autumn / winter and feeling like a mess.

I found these scrolling, and it feels like they might be the answer for me, even described as 'a cross between a sneaker and a weather resistant boot'. 🙌

What do we think? Are they hideous? I think I like them?!

What were they like @MrsMaiselTheMarvelous ?

teawamutu · 30/09/2023 13:23

Dammit now I want some!

MrsMaiselTheMarvelous · 10/10/2023 11:52

Sorry for those wanting an update now the boots have been delivered - I meant to come back to this thread earlier, but life got in the way as ever!

This might be a frustrating update however as I just can't make up my mind if I like them or not! The material is a bit canvassy, almost shiny, and they feel a bit clumpy and heavy when they're on. It might be that I just need to get used to them as I've spent the summer in the extremely lightweight EVA style birks.
They are comfy though, and easy to put on and I think they'd go with most outfits.

So yeah...haven't made up my mind yet but I need to get a move on as time is running out for returns! Has anyone else bought them and can add anything to sway my decision either way by any chance?!

I bought them too but they felt very cheap, didn't like the fabric at all. Bit of a worst of both worlds - none of the comfort of a trainer with none of the sturdiness or waterproofing of a boot. And not wearable without socks which is the thing I like about uggs.

MrsKeats · 10/10/2023 15:30

Emu boots are much better quality.

KirstenBlest · 10/10/2023 15:47

It's a No from me. I have a pair of Sorel boots and can recommend those.

vestedinterests · 10/10/2023 15:52

You should return them if you're unsure.

VORE · 11/10/2023 14:52

Other option if you prefer the look of sneakers is the Vans MTE shoes.

Essentially they look like vans but are designed for the outdoors.

Azulocean · 11/10/2023 17:37

I have the quebecs from here….they are soo comfy and warm. Go with my dog walking outfits but I don’t feel scruffy running into the shops on the way home.

@Azulocean , I like those!

Azulocean · 11/10/2023 21:55

They are soo comfy! I’ve walked miles, trudges through muddy fields and they wipe up like new 😀

KirstenBlest · 11/10/2023 21:58

I hope you don't mind but I copied your post and posted it on another thread

I love the UGG Adirondacks - tempted to buy a pair every winter.

SpottyBrolly · 11/10/2023 23:19

I've had both vans MTEs and tevas, both trainer/boot style. The Vans are waterproof to a point but I've cycled in absolute downpours and my feet have stayed dry in the tevas.

Annasgirl · 20/09/2023 10:10

I love them. If you get them OP can you tell us how they feel on? I’m looking for the same - a waterproof shoe/ boot that is like a trainer so that I can walk the 5k per day that I walk the dog.

I know this was posted a few weeks ago, but still. If you want waterproof + trainer-like, maybe consider a pair of trainers that uses Gore-Tex in the upper. Nike, Adidas, and New Balance all make trail runners with Gore-Tex.

Beautiful3 · 12/10/2023 09:35

Thanks for your update. I love these. I'm thinking of buying these, but worried they'd be too chunky and heavy for me. Any change of a pic of your boots on? Obviously not of the face/body. Just want to see if they kinda look too chunky or not.

floofbag · 12/10/2023 09:43

These are great and the price is too!

MrsMaiselTheMarvelous · 14/10/2023 00:02

I've sent them back 😭
Still looking for an alternative, still haven't found anything that really convinces me. Really annoyed they didn't work out, kind of felt like I'd got it all sorted.
