The UGG Lug boot?

MrsMaiselTheMarvelous · 19/09/2023 21:42

I generally hate wearing winter boots, I feel much better in trainers / Birkenstocks which thankfully suit the weather for a big part of the year but there's another big part where they're not suitable and boots are the most practical choice.

Boots always feel fussy and overdressed to me for the school run, dog walks etc. Our walk to school is through a park and sometimes when the weather is particularly awful, only wellies will do but they make me feel scruffy and I'm in danger of just slipping into wearing them every day for the whole of the autumn / winter and feeling like a mess.

I found these scrolling, and it feels like they might be the answer for me, even described as 'a cross between a sneaker and a weather resistant boot'. 🙌

What do we think? Are they hideous? I think I like them?!

As soon as I saw Ugg I thought ‘they will be hideous’ but I actually like them!

DistressedDamson · 20/09/2023 07:19

i too thought they’d be horrible as I usually hate uggs but they’re really cool! I’m tempted myself!

GallbladderWoes · 20/09/2023 07:28

These are fab! Sorrell also do a lot of waterproof trainer/boots, worth a look

Fallingthroughclouds · 20/09/2023 09:49

I like them

Annasgirl · 20/09/2023 10:10

I love them. If you get them OP can you tell us how they feel on? I’m looking for the same - a waterproof shoe/ boot that is like a trainer so that I can walk the 5k per day that I walk the dog.

MrsMaiselTheMarvelous · 20/09/2023 10:29

I've ordered them! Thank you all so much for your replies. I was definitely wavering as Uggs are so hit and miss, I'm never quite sure if I hate or love any styles that aren't the classic.

I'll update when they arrive!

I like them too but the only thing I can see as a negative is will the fabric part be waterproof and will it mark in wet weather like Uggs do? Apart from that they look really good

I was thinking these look too much like my Soreells to justify a pair.

Shopper727 · 20/09/2023 10:43

I’ve got Ugg winter boots I’ve had for years I think they are on their way out now but they are so comfy. I’m not keen on those but they’ll be warm and last you op. I need to look for boots to replace mine as they look quite worn/tired

DigbyTheDigger · 20/09/2023 11:15

I like those too! I have chubby ankles and calves though, so I wonder whether they'd do up. Let us know about ankle girth when they arrive, OP.

BeansOnToast32 · 20/09/2023 11:17

I have the Ugg Adirondack III in black for winter dog walks! Absolutely love them they are waterproof and weather rated to -32 degrees so lovely and warm, dead comfy too.

I have two other pairs of Adirondacks that aren't leather but are still supposed to be waterproof. I only wear them when it's dry and cold because one pair is a tan colour with cream trim at the top. I've had both pairs since autumn either 2015 or 16 and they are still in brilliant condition.

Sundaygirl01 · 20/09/2023 11:25

I like them. I was just looking at cream Ugg Chelsea boots on Pinterest.

Mirabai · 20/09/2023 18:15

They’re not properly waterproof. If you sometimes need wellies you need waterproof boots.

I was going to buy a new pair of Uggs but was on the fence because they can look scruffy and not waterproof. these are actually lovely! Way nicer than these which are hideous

Not my taste but I've never cared what anyone else thinks. I swear by Dubarry Galway boots. They're not cheap but wear for wear I definitely get my money's worth. I always find a company with a deal on your first order for such purchases. Last time I got 10% off, a care kit and a boot bag free. I only got new because my old ones were starting to look a bit worse for wear. I've had those about ten years and they're still waterproof so great for dog walks.

roseopose · 20/09/2023 19:25

I've been looking at those too but I have another pair of trainer style uggs and I found the leather really thin so decided not. Do update us when they arrive OP!

MrsMarzetti · 20/09/2023 21:05

I think i prefer my Dunlop wellies

1of2 · 20/09/2023 21:08

Uggs last forever too. I have some brown leather ones I’ve had for 5 winters now and still look in great condition!

Uggtrending · 20/09/2023 21:10

I like the ones you've posted but in khaki and black a lot better. Has anybody tried on the Neumel platform? I love them.

I'm stuck with to order the Neuemel or the ultra minis!

Uggtrending · 20/09/2023 21:18

Love this colour

I've got ugg Chelsea boots in chocolate brown and they've been really comfy and hard wearing.

GrimGrinningGhosts · 20/09/2023 21:44

I have some North Face Nuptse boots along these lines, like a trainer boot and down filled. Waterproof and extremely warm but christ they are ugly. Do the job though in the middle of winter.

colourwheelofortune · 20/09/2023 21:48

Nothing could be worse that those ridiculous slipper shoes with the 1050s fur! Those boots look good to me

givemeasunnyday · 20/09/2023 22:45

Personally I think they are ugly, but if they suit your purposes then go for it. I wear thick rubber-soled chelsea boots for walking when it's wet, and find them great. I also used to wear them for work, and with skirts, and it's great not having to deal with laces.
