Nearly 50 and plus size quit like the look of T-shirt with blazer for a night out, but don't want to look daft

Never ever too old. My MIL is approaching 70 and you can try and take her Fleetwood Mac and Rammstein T-shirts but you won’t get far. She’s fabulous. Kids call her Nanny Rocks Grin

RosieProbert · 01/09/2023 22:04

I'm.42 and on my last night out I wore a.nirvana t shirt and bright pink shorts. Sod it. You do you

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 01/09/2023 22:04

Is it fits your image, absolutely go for it. Nothing worse than some preteen wearing a Nirvana tshirt bought from primark with no actual clue of who they are.

I don't be in age limits for things like this! Just dress as yourself, be you and be confident about it

ForSaleChesterDraws · 01/09/2023 22:05

I MASSIVELY regret not buying band T-shirts back in the day. I wish I had them. Went to see Pulp last month and bought a shopping bag instead 😂

SatelliteStomper · 01/09/2023 22:07

Depends on the band 😀

Seriously though, I'm 50 and will be wearing a Sonic Youth t-shirt out next weekend (and may wear a black suit jacket with it, if that's what you mean by blazer?)

SquashPenguin · 01/09/2023 22:08

@ColonelRhubarbBikini I love this!! I’ll be wearing all 12 of my Rammstein T-shirts till I’m dead and buried 🤘🏻🔥

Bingus · 01/09/2023 22:18

Depends on the band TBH.

mm47 · 01/09/2023 22:44

It’s not my thing at all BUT if it’s yours - and you love the band - I think you’re never too old.

Spottyhousecoat · 01/09/2023 23:03

I wore a black dolly parton t-shirt and blazer last week!! The nirvana/guns n roses/pink Floyd are ten a penny now!

Happyhappyeveryday · 01/09/2023 23:04

Never too old. Even if you just like the design, rather than the music IMO — unpopular opinion, I know! 😆

I was no way able to afford real band t-shirts back in the day. I had to scrape together the money to buy the tickets let alone any merch!

No, no, no, no, no. The only excuse for this is if you are 13.

BitOutOfPractice · 02/09/2023 09:06

I’m 56. I’ll let you know when I get to “too old” for anything.

I dont remember merch being as expensive and there were always loads of people selling knock off T-shirts outside at the end of a gig . Mind you, I would pay £10 to see a band at a 3000 venue place and arenas were £20. All my Saturday job money went on gigs and CDs. I can’t see a Saturday job paying for that anymore.

Hibernatalie · 02/09/2023 09:46

Controversial I know, but I only think they cute on children. After teen years not so much.

LadyMadderLake · 02/09/2023 11:51

It depends, not on your age, but on your general style and look. The same t-shirt could look great or -try-hard, it would depend on what else you were wearing and whether you genuinely like the tee and feel it’s “you”.

(im also a purist and think it’s better if it’s a band you actually love, not one you’ve never listened to or heard of, but i recognise that’s a bit uptight)

I get bored with plain tops and like the idea of graphic t-shirts but I can’t seem to feel “right” in them, so I’m still experimenting with it. But there’s definitely no “too old”.

haha this is my 13yo DD. When she does this I just play her the music and she usually gets into it!

Wear a band t shirt at any age.
with a blazer, you’re not serious?
😂😂😂😂

It’s a really common combination, amazed you’ve never noticed it.

Kate Moss seems to like the look.

Alycidon · 02/09/2023 12:03

Ageless - bonus points if you've owned the t-shirt for donkey's years. I wear them aged nearly 50 and so does my husband in his 60s - he wears band hoodies too.

Xrays · 02/09/2023 12:07

I love them but I’ve stopped wearing them because it seems to invite people (ie men) to try and start conversations with you about the band. It drives me crazy.

TheFormidableMrsC · 02/09/2023 12:15

I'm 54 and wear them all the time! Bands I like obviously but I don't think you're ever too old!

DramaticBananas · 02/09/2023 12:16

Never too old! Especially if you saw the band live and in their heyday. My MIL saw Elvis in Las Vegas, travelled widely and has some brilliant stories which a Elvis t shirt is the catalyst for.

Needmorelego · 02/09/2023 12:16

@Xrays on no....people wanting to chat about a shared interest. How shocking 😂🙄

SunnieShine · 02/09/2023 12:19

Never too old to rock a band t shirt. 🎶🎵🎸
