Aiming to feel this way every day of my life but currently only making an effort every so often. What do you do to always be on point and how much do you spend to make it happen?

The thing that always makes me feel 'ready to go' is painting my nails and either having a 'clear' polish like Essie's Glow&Shine or in a colour that features in my outfit - pink with a pink shirt, neon orange to pull out the neon orange in my trainers etc. There's just something for me about getting out of bed in the morning and looking at my pretty nails.

Loopylooni · 27/08/2023 05:54

What lifts me up is a cut and colour (£65) or threading eyebrows/face (£20).

Lipstick, brushing hair etc gives me an oomph.

Niftythrifter · 27/08/2023 06:13

Planning my outfit so I have something to look forward to wearing including accessories that ‘go’ with the clothes. I feel like something is missing when I don’t have perfume on.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 27/08/2023 07:01

I have to feel thin, (my version of thin) on top of my exercise, and wearing new ish clothes (new to me).

Plus basic makeup and hair blow dried by me not a hairdresser - I feel like a fraud with professionally blow dried hair!

The thin bit is most important though. I never ever feel good about myself if I don't feel at my best weight.

So I rarely feel good about myself 😁

Velvetpow · 27/08/2023 07:30

Perfume and nicely-done hair. Maybe a little bit of translucent powder on areas of shine. Clothes ironed (where necessary). My daily delicate gold jewellery (small hoops, two thin gold chains, antique slim gold watch). Eyebrows always threaded.

In terms of what I spend wrt the above: the powder is By Terry (£40?), the perfume varies (Eau Dynamisante, Estee Lauder, Tom Ford) and the jewellery is a mix of Georg Jensen, Suzanne Kalan and Monica Vinader. I get my eyebrows threaded at Blink.

mdinbc · 27/08/2023 07:40

I always make a bit of an effort! Even if I am at home, tinted moisturizer, eyeliner and mascara.

As for clothing, I'm in the basic but tidy category. Donate or dispose of clothes if they get faded or dingy. Except for jeans, somehow a good genuinely worn out pair of jeans still works. Try to stay a bit on trend with accessories, for example sunglasses or trainers.

RosesAndHellebores · 27/08/2023 07:45

Cut and colour every 7 weeks
Decent coat/jacket/coatigan
Good, well fitting underwear and a slip under a dress.

Franxxx · 27/08/2023 07:46

I put a bit of tan on my face and put lashes on (the ones that last a week) and it completely transforms how I look and feel

WunWun · 27/08/2023 07:47

I get a lash lift every couple of months. It's about £55 a go

continentallentil · 27/08/2023 07:53

Going through my clothes every six months ideally, so I have a mental note of what looks good with what.

3 minute make up - fill in brows (makes a massive difference) tinted moisturiser and a bright lipstick. I like made up eyes rather than lips too - but a bright lipstick is such a shortcut to looking pulled together. Plus a perfume you like. (M and S tan drops in moisturiser also help if you are v pale like me)

quickly blow dried hair with the speedy and brilliant revlon one step. I am very lazy but I have fine curly hair, which doesn’t lend itself to looking organised. I let it air dry fairly often but I look better when I dry it.

A bit of jewellery, even if it’s just earrings to light up your face. I usually just wear small silver hoops which I hardly take out.

Tidy nails. I CBA to have them done so just keep them short and neat.

A decent bag, that you clean out at least once a week.

Nice shoes - but they have to be comfortable.

IAmAVintedAddict · 27/08/2023 08:33

This is very very low effort Grin but wearing my "good" jewellery always makes me feel good, no matter what I'm wearing or state of hair etc (always brushed hair and proper clothes, not PJs, I'm not a complete scruff Wink).

But I have to go out in a "can't be arsed but need to get milk" kind of way, I'll just wear any old T shirt/dress but put my expensive jewellery on (ring, or necklace, ironically, I couldn't "afford' them myself, they're inherited) and always feel good to go and more confident. I'm aware this makes me sound terribly shallow.

BananaMamas · 27/08/2023 08:56

@IAmAVintedAddict not at all, I am the same, can’t be without my jewellery!

Mascara, tinted lip gloss, eyebrows filled in and foundation are a basic must for me. Not a heavy foundation, but it makes my skin look healthy as does the lip balm and eyebrows and mascara stops my eyes from disappearing! Takes about 5 minutes.

For more put together I put a basic shadow on my lids, eyeliner and maybe a few individual lashes. Takes about another 5 - 10 minutes.

Hair wise whether it’s wavy or straight, no frizz (straighteners for this) and no grease (dry shampoo for this). A few highlights and haircut (DIY). I don’t really like too styled hair but I do normally run my straighteners through my fringe and maybe a few loose waves. Takes about 5 minutes. Dying hair and cutting it takes a couple of hours every couple of months.

Clothes are my own style and what suits my body and lifestyle with nods to trends. Lots of linen, cotton, real wool, leather, in dark tones. Over the years I have spent time on Pinterest finding what I like, recreating outfits, buying good basics, trawling shops and charity shops. I don’t have to think about what I’m wearing day to day as my wardrobe is great. It’s taken time and effort to get here, but fun and worth it.

I do about 7 hours of exercise a week plus lots of dog walking. I do it because I love it, but it does help me stay slim and strong (toned). Ditto eating healthily.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 27/08/2023 18:14

Lipstick and perfume are my " daily brighteners"
Freshly washed hair( I have my soft pixie cut and coloured every 6 weeks)

Roystonv · 27/08/2023 18:24

I aim at being clean, tidy and appropriately dressed for what I plan to do. So clean hair and brushed, thorough wash, clean/ironed clothes in good condition. I rarely wear make up, jewellery or have my hair done or beauty treatments. I like to wear natural fibres and clothes that are attractive but not high fashion.

Cherryana · 27/08/2023 18:38

I spend quite a lot up front to be able to actually be quite low maintenance day to day.

Nails done every three weeks
Eyelashes done every three weeks
Hair done every six weeks
Face/eyebrows waxed when I notice
A Dyson hair wrap which makes my hair look like it’s been professionally blow dried every day.

What hair do you get done? Rebonding? Cut and colour?
I've just gotten an AirWrap dupe, hopefully it stops me looking like a mop

Cherryana · 27/08/2023 20:33

@FasciaDreams I have highlights and my friend (who is a hairdresser) does it at my house so it’s not as expensive as in a salon.

Hope you love your Dyson dupe!

pattyparsnip · 27/08/2023 21:12

Hair trimmed and roots every 8 weeks
LVL and brows done every couple of months
Mix and match my gold and silver jewellery to suit my outfit .
Try and stick to wearing no more than three colours in one go including bag and shoes .
I use gradual tan every couple of days on face and body .
Also use air wrap and try to wash hair every couple of days or it looks crap .
I always have gel on my toes which I do myself but just keep fingernails short and neat .
Always a spritz of perfume .

Shopgirl1 · 27/08/2023 21:18

Roots done…unfortunately the grey starts popping through every three to four weeks nowadays.
Fitted smart clothes and a bit of make up - blush, mascara and brows is really all I do.

nutmegnook · 27/08/2023 21:29

Full makeup and style hair with a hair tool (tong etc) nice heels help too!

Purplecatshopaholic · 27/08/2023 21:35

Mascara, brows done, bit of concealer, always wear lipstick or gloss. Always do nails. Plan outfits the day before, down to jewellery.

FinallyHere · 27/08/2023 21:51

Lots of routine maintenance to minimise the effort needed day to day:

Hair monthly lowlights and weekly blow dry, hair always looks ok with just a quick brush and hairspray to keep it out of my eyes.

Eyebrows micro bladed plus eyebrow. hair and lashes tinted (even second set of just highlights)

Colour and style analysis, only buy clothes that are effect for me. When I find something perfect, I buy multiple copies and wear them as a 'uniform' so always look reasonably well put together. One Simple necklace to be worn with each type of top.

This approach is based on Former President Obama who had multiple identical blue suits and white shirts, to saving having to make any decisions about what to wear.

Very light make up, tinted moisturiser, blusher, eye shadow highlight and dark pencil, lip vase and lipstick.

Most importantly, teeth water flossed and brushed evenings, just brushed in the morning.

Eat low carb, lots of grown above ground leafy green veg. Walk most days, yoga #everydammday

Goodness, for someone who thinks of herself as a natural, I fussy person that's quite the list.

TheAloe · 27/08/2023 21:53

Freshly washed, straightened hair and some lippy.

tunainatin · 27/08/2023 21:56

I always combine 3 colours (I tend to wear plain colours rather than patterns), including shoes/accessories. I find this looks less contrived than just 2, and also avoids looking jumbled with too many. I read it somewhere and tried it and realised it works. Makes it look like you're wearing an outfit, rather than just clothes. So today was denim blue dress, burgundy cardigan, grey trainers and bag.
