Aiming to feel this way every day of my life but currently only making an effort every so often. What do you do to always be on point and how much do you spend to make it happen?

I have hair extensions and get my colour done every 8 weeks and do my roots every 4-6 weeks myself. Nails every four weeks. Micro bladed brows in the mix. Makeup every day and hair styled in some way. I struggle a bit with clothes though

ChillysWaterBottle · 27/08/2023 22:04

Nails, clean hair, perfume x

Tinybrother · 27/08/2023 22:08

Clothes that fit well. That’s all. I don’t do any special beauty or hair stuff beyond clean/moisturised/hair brushed etc. But I make a lot of my clothes and can adjust the ones I buy to the fit I want.

Supersimkin2 · 27/08/2023 22:10

Keep it simple. Very white trainers, dress, straw bag, scent.

Neck chains, chain bracelets and rings don’t come off at night. Haircut, eyebrows threaded & dyed every couple of months. Fake tan as and when necessary.

Hayuuuge scarf in straw bag if it gets nippy. Jones Road miracle balm and mascara in bag if face necessary.

I feel best when I feel slim and my hair is glossy. Both require a bit more effort than they used to!

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 27/08/2023 22:15

Concealer and nails done

excelledyourself · 27/08/2023 22:23

Hair washed, mascara, eyebrows filled in, nails painted, jewellery and perfume on

I put a bit of tan on my face and put lashes on (the ones that last a week) and it completely transforms how I look and feel

Which lashes do you get that last a week?

I feel put together if hair is professionally blow dried. I get it done once a week and get about 4 days out of it (with the help of dry shampoo) The other 3 I generally blow-dry myself and wear tied back.

picking out outfit (including jewellery) the night before instead of throwing on just anything in the morning.

Also making sure my shoes/trainers are keep clean at all times.

Eyebrows most of all.

Clean and shiny hair.
Neat, short nails (I stopped biting them this year but felt uncomfortable with longer ones, so cut them all down this week - it looks so much better)
Cuticles swept away with Sally Hansen remover - not the skin on the proximal nail folds, just the scrappy stuff that sticks to the nail plate.
Clean, well fitting, comfortable clothes.
Comfortable shoes.

I think that feeling comfortable makes you appear put together more than anything else.

I’m lucky because I have a side hustle managing my hairdresser’s social media, so my hair is cut (as part payment) every four weeks. He is the absolute best, and even on days like today where it’s been washed/brushed/left to dry it looks perfect.

Otherwise:

Always look out outfit the night before and hang it in the bathroom - if I didn’t do this I would go to work in my pyjamas

Eyebrows waxed every three weeks, tint them and lashes myself

Iron - I know MN doesn’t iron but I hate looking crumpled!

Do my own nails - keep them very short but always painted. I tend to do it a couple of times a week in front of the TV. Do a pedicure on a Sunday usually too

Red lipstick. Even if I don’t wear anything else it just looks “done”

Amor lashes are meant to be 5-7 days. I’m now thinking the sets you get on Amazon for much less are all just a replica of the same thing though so I could probably get them for much cheaper than the amor sets

RhymesWithTangerine · 28/08/2023 11:55

Iron my clothes. It makes all the difference.

Tinted moisturiser and some lip balm or colour. Tightline my lashes.

Proper hair colour every 7 weeks. My hair is naturally scruffy but it is expensively coloured so I get away with it. I also do a keratin treatment every six months which really helps.

Essie Mademoiselle on nails. You don’t notice it is there - it just looks cleaner.

I am really low maintenance and not going for a Kardashian look. But I want to look like I care enough.

I have to feel thin, (my version of thin) on top of my exercise, and wearing new ish clothes (new to me).

Plus basic makeup and hair blow dried by me not a hairdresser - I feel like a fraud with professionally blow dried hair!

The thin bit is most important though. I never ever feel good about myself if I don't feel at my best weight.

So I rarely feel good about myself 😁

I’m the same. Being thin is the number one thing for me. If I’m not at my optimum size (which is XS or size 6-8 depending on the shop, as I am petite) then nothing else will make me feel well put together.

This is followed by:

  • a good, recent haircut
  • shaped eyebrows
  • manicured nails
AdoraBell · 28/08/2023 18:19

Lipstick and perfume here too.

Nail polish in neutral colour.

Thats about all I manage recently, must find some motivation <looks behind sofa>

Jasperdale · 28/08/2023 18:22

@Moredarkchocolateplease i agree if I don’t feel slim then I don’t feel like making an effort. My bmi is always fine but if I’m the higher end I just want to hide and have less interest in my looks. I appreciate this is different for everyone and I admire bigger women who always look amazing.

Dearly89 · 28/08/2023 18:23

Hiya! A lash lift and tint is fabulous. If you have dark lashes you don't need a tint. You can buy a kit from Amazon to do the lift yourself like I do or go to a salon. Costs about £30 and lasts 6 weeks. Will make such a difference to your face.

I also always have jewellery on. Sparkly earrings, rings, bracelet and a dainty necklace. They don't tarnish so they are always kept on me and make me feel like I've made effort even when I haven't x

Mellowautumnmists · 28/08/2023 19:33

@IAmAVintedAddict

But I have to go out in a "can't be arsed but need to get milk" kind of way, I'll just wear any old T shirt/dress but put my expensive jewellery on (ring, or necklace, ironically, I couldn't "afford' them myself, they're inherited) and always feel good to go and more confident. I'm aware this makes me sound terribly shallow.

Not shallow at all - jewellery and lipstick for me!!

Loopylooni · 29/08/2023 05:04

@RhymesWithTangerine good point about nail polish as mine are always bare. Reading this thread makes me think it shows zilch effort so I'm looking for something more natural.

Yerroblemom1923 · 29/08/2023 05:13

Hair freshly washed and straightened. Make up - moisturiser, primer, foundation, mascara, lipstick (in a subtle colour)
Have French manicure every 2/3 weeks and lashes (not ott ones). £60 for nails and lashes.
Nice maxi dress, control undies and shoes. Perfume and jewellery.
If I've eaten healthily/fasted beforehand it's a bonus and I feel extra confident and ready to take on the world.
