Dd1 needs extra swimmers for our foreign holiday in a few weeks. She has one swimsuit which is lightly padded and has now rejected all her others. She doesn't want to wear anything you can see nipples through. I completely sympathise I don't want her to be uncomfortable.

She also doesn't love how exposed she feels in swimmers at all but we have booked a water park holiday (she is ecstatic about this though) and I need her to have 3 I reckon.

Where can I look that has swimsuits that arnt sexy looking but not cruise wear that are 13 year old friendly? I don't mind spending a bit as she's already 5'3 and a size-8-10 so I don't think she will outgrow anytime soon.

I thought about the mn Amazon swimsuit but I've got one she won't want to twin with me!

Next online have a good selection of swimsuits. And as she's an adult size you should find something?

RomaniIteDomum · 26/08/2023 11:39

She could wear a rash vest over the top to cover up more?

You can also get swim shorts.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 26/08/2023 11:43

Swim shorts and a UV top? Swimsuits aimed at competitive swimmers often have longer legs which can be good. Look at Decathlon "heva shorty mexi" it seems to have an additional layer over the bust and gives very good coverage. Or look at tankini styles by the likes of speedo, these tend to have a bit of bust support so.should cover nipples.

BungleandGeorge · 26/08/2023 11:44

Rash vest
if she’s busty bravissimo
John Lewis or next or just do a shopping trip to a large city and see what’s left as it’s end of the season.

lljkk · 26/08/2023 11:47

Look at legsuits. Also tankini top with jammers (plain black ones).

continentallentil · 26/08/2023 11:48

I would go for swim shorts and a Tankini top

Notonthestairs · 26/08/2023 11:51

Lands End sold tankinis - the size 6 has barely noticeable padding and wide shoulder straps.
The swim shorts look like running shorts.

Big hit with DD (14).

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 26/08/2023 11:56

Mine lived in rash vests and swim shorts at that age with a bikini top underneath if they wanted

skkyelark · 26/08/2023 12:03

I was also going to say lands end. Their children's stuff goes up to 14 or 16 and runs quite large. I'm slightly smaller than your daughter and have one of their swimming sets in size 14, so a 14 or 16 would probably fit DD if there was something she liked.

WhereAreWeNow · 26/08/2023 12:15

My DD is the same. There's a real gap in the market for non-sexy swimming costumes for teenage girls!
I got her this from M&S and she was very pleased with it. She's 5"9 and a size 8-10 and the age 15-16 fits her well. It's got removable pads to cover nipples. https://www.marksandspencer.com/sports-swimsuit-6-16-yrs-/p/clp60573502#intid=pid_pg1pip23g2r2c2
I also got her some swim/surf shorts which she liked.

Decathlon have some good options. You could also look at surf style board shorts and rash vests.

This is lovely and v neutral are you sure it has pads - as in the one in the link as they are not mentioned. I think marks is good shout I can order to collect and she can try in at home. I think she would like the super plain

Yes, definitely has pads @pastypirate . Thin removable ones - just for coverage rather than any serious padding. It's possible that only the bigger sizes have the pads. They have a similar style in a few different prints if your DD wants something a bit less plain (my DD was keen on plain black).

That's exactly what she wants - modesty pads! Thanks I will show her these they might be just the thing thank you xx

I bought my 16 year dd one from Decathlon, plain navy with little shorty legs and a lightly padded bra section. It was suggested on here on another thread. She is really happy with it.

MrJi · 26/08/2023 14:14

This is the one I bought .

Rash vest and swim shorts! Lots of teens wear them.
