Bras AGAIN - my boobs are in revolt!!!

PonyPatter44 · 20/08/2023 15:26

If I say my boobs are revolting, it will derail the entire thread! They are definitely staging some sort of protest though - the underwire has broken again. Are there any wirefree bras that will still give me a bit of shape and no monoboob? My underwires are the only things stopping my entire body from resembling the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man in a heatwave!

I am 40DD or possibly 38E, as I do think I need a tighter band. I don't like Snag / Lemonade Dolls etc, i need more support and i want a bit of shape.

Watching with interest. I've got an appointment at M&S for a bra fitting this coming Friday and I'm dying to know if I've been buying the wrong size all my life. Every single bra I've ever purchased without bones gives me monoboob 😫

YomAsalYomBasal · 20/08/2023 15:33

Go for a Polish brand like Ewa Michalak, their scaffolding is just so much better than ours. The right fit will give you nice structured boobs, not this awful monoboob situation that uk bras do.

Gatekeeper · 20/08/2023 15:34

Def watching this. I am SICK to death of wired bras but still want some definition and shape

SirVixofVixHall · 20/08/2023 15:35

Polish bras are amazing but they aren’t wire free, if you want a bra with great structure and no wires you need to go old school and get something like the Triumph Doreen.

neilyoungismyhero · 20/08/2023 15:35

I've started wearing Freya bras. You can buy online or Mark's stock a selection I think. I've been wearing a 36C for years but got so fed up with being uncomfortable I did an online fitting. The woman told me she thought I looked like a 34F! Long story short I've now bought a Freya bra full cup plunge in a 36F and it's perfect. I might pop into the next town's bravissimo for a proper fitting later on in the year though.

Tippexy · 20/08/2023 15:37

Are you sure that’s your correct size?

Doggymummar · 20/08/2023 15:38

I love SUGAR CANDY for a non underwired bra. I'm a 36hh in Bravissimo so a large is the correct size for me.

Oh crumbs. If you have been wearing the wrong size bra, M&S will continue to recommend you do so. They add unnecessary inches to the back measurement, meaning they’ll have you in a 36 back when really you’re a 32. They’re a disgrace.

Don't go to M&S, that's for sure.

Uselessatthisstuff · 20/08/2023 15:42

I am a convert to the Molke flexifit bra. I’ll never wear underwire again.

StarlightLady · 20/08/2023 15:43

OP, I'm 36F and I second Freya, or try Panache or Fantasie. Underwired and comfortable.

Soozikinzii · 20/08/2023 15:46

I have been getting the M and S Joy Boutique plunge bras lately . They are really pretty and comfortable with no wires . So much so I've not got 3 !

MILofdoom · 20/08/2023 17:14

@Tippexy @YomAsalYomBasal yikes! I've worn M&S minimisers all my life (34F). Recently or should I say the last one from there is rubbing under my armpit so thought I'd best get a fitting booked in. I'm not so sure now.

As with PP I would love to find a wireless one that gives some support and no monoboob more than anything.

If you want to know your correct bra size DON’T go to M&S.

Any recommendation of where to go if not M&S please?

Me too.
The best compromise for me is the Body range in M&S and it is a compromise to be honest.
42DD and I'm praying I don't get any bigger. 😕

Windowcleaning · 20/08/2023 17:33

A proper lingerie shop or someone will post a DIY version in a minute.

I'm slight with small boobs by any measure and my proper size is 28D. Cup sizes do go up a bit with band measurement, but most women wear too high a band size and too small a cup.

Freysimo · 20/08/2023 17:37

I've just bought a body flexifit bra from Marks, 32F. No wires and v comfortable. Didn't think there would be any uplift but there is. No one was there to help me fit so just took several into changing room to try. I had a telephone fitting with Bravissimo prior to this which suggested 32F. I'd been in 34DD!

Sewaccidentprone · 20/08/2023 17:42

I think the first thing is to work out what size you really are. Then look at the shape of your breasts. For example the space in between mine at the front is really narrow, so any bra that has wider spacing just means the wires poke into the breast tissue and are really uncomfy.

also the volume of mine is more towards the bottom than the top, and I have a short waist and shortish torso, so anything without adjustable straps just means I don’t get any support.

if you find a bra that actually works for your shape and size it should feel loads more comfy.

all bras are not the same, so even if you think you’re a 40DD doesn’t mean all shapes are right for you.

Bravissimo, Ann Summers, Boob or Bust website. Independent lingerie shop if you have one.

piperatthegates · 21/08/2023 10:55

Thank you very much @Doggymummar 🙂

Those old fashioned bras make them look like triangles it’s not a very flattering shape imo

amazon has done good options

kissthegirlshesnotbehindthedoor · 21/08/2023 13:37

Pretty sure you won't be that large a back size.

I'd go off to bravissimo for a measure and they have some great soft cup styles too.

RaraRachael · 21/08/2023 13:52

I'm a 36GG - it's taken me years to find out my correct size. I got measured at Bravissimo but stupidly bought a very lacy bra which just made me itch - waste of £36.

I've recently bough M and S Flexifit bras and have found them very comfortable although can be a bit sweaty under the band on hot days. Last week I bought an M and S total support wire free one and it's really comfortable and supports me well.

Thank goodness I've found other people with big boobs who cant get on with wires. I thought I was the only one and was fed up being told that you cant get decent support without them.
