Parisien bag - should I invest?

Sezane have launched their new collection this morning. I have been waiting to see it before I bought an Autumn work bag.

Criteria:

  • leather
  • long strap
  • any colour but black

My work style is suited for conferences, smart casual neutral separates for day. I quite like the pseudo Chanel knitted jacket/Hermes scarf French vibe.

The rose pink i linked is very tempting. There are also cream and chocolate large bags launched today.

What do you think? Anyone invested in Sezane bags?

It’s nice OP but quite expensive given the simplicity of the design. I would maybe have a look around and see if there are similar styles of the price is something you aren’t completely comfortable paying.

@Niftythrifter very good points. I was also looking at DeMellier, but I've never heard of them before.

I'm open to other suggestions!

Another Parisien possibility

The Sezane bag is a beauty! If you can comfortably afford it, go for it. You'll end up spending more than half on something of the same quality elsewhere so just get the bag that makes you excited!
I find those soft pinks work as a neutral, especially if your style is 'parisienne' with creams, navy and tan/beige.

The fringed bag is awful, don't go there.

Have you looked at Polene? Mid-priced but very expensive looking, beautiful but simple designs.

GettingStuffed · 16/08/2023 13:52

Have you been on TKMaxx website yet, they have loads

mynameiscalypso · 16/08/2023 13:52

I like the style of the rose pink bag but I'm not sold on any of the colours (the black is dull, the others I'd get messy in about 3 days).

Polane are nicer than Demellier. Some Demellier hardware is a bit blingy.

BonneMamanIsMyJam · 16/08/2023 13:56

Amazingly I think the Sézane bag has already sold out

Niftythrifter · 16/08/2023 14:13

@bornonvalentines I am also a fan of Parisenne style and think that if you are prepared to put the leg work in then the second hand market could be worth a look. I’ve managed to find bags that I think would fit the aesthetic from charity shops so it’s worth considering. It would also give you something a bit unique.

A poor Stella McCartney Falabella imitation that looks far cheaper than its price tag.

The Sézane bag is far more chic and better quality. Well worth its price. I had a Sézane leather and suede bag back when they first launched. It was great quality and I used it loads. While I don't rate their clothes, I really recommend their leather goods.

bornonvalentines · 16/08/2023 15:17

Thank you for all your advice. I was mostly swayed by "pink is a neutral" and have ordered the pink Sezane.

I promise to post it with some pound-shop Parisien photos when it comes!

Meanwhile, here is what I wore to the office yesterday. Will NOT be wearing with the new bag

I love that pink bag.
I was going to insist you order it but I see you already have

Escapetofrance · 16/08/2023 15:41

The Sezane pink bag is a thing of beauty. So chic and understated.

Seaswimmingforthesoul · 16/08/2023 15:44

The style doesnt look very sturdy if it's to be used for work. You can get good quality leather bags for much cheaper. I'm all for spending money for quality but this isn't that in my opinion. I think that's silly money for what it is, it doesn't look great IMO. Lush colour though admittedly.

nettie434 · 16/08/2023 16:22

I love the pink bag! I am so pleased you ordered it.

Fuckingfuming1 · 16/08/2023 16:25

I see you’ve ordered it so I feel a bit of an arse saying this now but I’m going to anyway it’s so heavy to carry around anything in a bag like that. I don’t think you’ll use it very often but when you do you look great.

Blueink · 16/08/2023 16:37

I like it but, very expensive; don’t overload it as it doesn’t look that sturdy

Busubaba · 16/08/2023 18:14

If anyone wants a non leather/vegan bag, this is lovely -

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 16/08/2023 18:21

Impractical colour IMO, it will scuff and mark with pen etc. Nice shape though

SeaBee7 · 16/08/2023 20:48

I have a Sezane bag that’s similar but 2 years old. The strap has peeled and I would say it’s very expensive for what it is. Next time I’d probably buy a replacement from an Etsy seller for a lot less and hopefully better quality. But I do love the Sezane in spite of this!

Tonightsthenight91 · 16/08/2023 21:37

Love the pink! Can imagine it will go quite slouchy in shape though? Looks lovely op x

MotherofGorgons · 16/08/2023 21:51

I love it. So chic and minimalist. No ugly logos or hardware

ImSoShiney · 16/08/2023 22:04

I think its awful, sorry. It looks like the sort of thing you'd get from New Look or Primark.
