Parisien bag - should I invest?

Sezane have launched their new collection this morning. I have been waiting to see it before I bought an Autumn work bag.

Criteria:

  • leather
  • long strap
  • any colour but black

My work style is suited for conferences, smart casual neutral separates for day. I quite like the pseudo Chanel knitted jacket/Hermes scarf French vibe.

The rose pink i linked is very tempting. There are also cream and chocolate large bags launched today.

What do you think? Anyone invested in Sezane bags?

Peeled scrotum vibes here (sorry)

I don't like the pink bag - I think you'd find it too long. Stuff will get lost inside it! The leather is very hard too.

It's not an investment fgs. You want to buy something. Do it or not but be honest.

Plexie · 17/08/2023 17:16

Neither of the Sezane bags have a zip or inside pocket, so you can't keep anything valuable in them because of the risk of bag-dippers/pick-pockets.

Also what @Longagonow96 said - it's not an 'investment', it's an expensive purchase.

Omg I've tried to forget about TK MAX's bag section it's absolutely amazing great deals I could spend alot there.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who was wondering how a handbag could be called an "investment". FTSE100 shares or a buy-to-let flat are investments, clothing and accessories are not.

Not true. Some handbags, mainly those by Hermès, not only hold value but actually increase in value and are considered more stable investments than some stocks and shares.

The Sezane bag is a beauty! If you can comfortably afford it, go for it. You'll end up spending more than half on something of the same quality elsewhere so just get the bag that makes you excited!
I find those soft pinks work as a neutral, especially if your style is 'parisienne' with creams, navy and tan/beige.

The fringed bag is awful, don't go there.

Have you looked at Polene? Mid-priced but very expensive looking, beautiful but simple designs.

Agree Polene bags are stunning and good value

They wouldn't increase in value if I owned them, I wear handbags out pretty quickly.

I said FTSE100 because I'm aware of the concept of junk stock.

MrsFiddle · 17/08/2023 23:24

I'm wondering how long those handles are as they could affect how you use it.

Stunning!!!

I love your new bag and I really like the larger version too - will be checking them out next week as I'll be in Paris. The large comes in black which I'm tempted by for work but that rosewood one is so pretty.

bornonvalentines · 31/08/2023 20:03

@hashisucks please can you live tweet your trip? I need Paris updates!

I have this Ferla bag, I looked a lot for ages. It's brilliant for work, slight grain to the leather so doesn't seem to mark, good handles, roomy and a zip!
