Do people still think wearing red at weddings is dodgy?

I've just seen on another thread that wearing red to a wedding means you've slept with the groom traditionally. Is this still a thing?

I've bought a long red/ pinkish boho style dress for my cousin's wedding (cousin is the bride). Planning to wear with flat sandals.

I've never met the geezer so definitely no hidden messages but don't know how traditional his family are/ are not.

I don't want to look like a trouble maker or attention seeker! My cousin has specified that she wants an informal wedding in terms of dress etc.

I have never heard of this. Dress sounds lovely, go for it and have a great time!

I have never heard of the red ‘tradition’, which sounds like a very strange tradition to me. Nor did I know that wearing green is traditionally for Irish weddings. Mumsnet is such a learning curve.

I'm Irish and I've genuinely never heard of the green thing. Baffled.

I've only ever heard about the red issue on mumsnet! Some posters love a good froth about red dresses on the "can I wear this to a wedding" threads 😂.

The women dressed in red will give us all something to think about at our next wedding

Honestly.

Don't wear white.

Don't wear a dress that could be bridesmaid style in the wedding theme colour.

Don't have your tits and arse out.

Other than that, wear whatever you want. Just because it's someone's wedding day doesn't mean they get this much influence on your clothes.

Huh?????????

I have never read that before just now. Red = groom shagging?

With weddings in general people just want attention on the couple so tend to avoid any type of dress which screams attention.
