A (nother?) Boden gripe

Countingthegreyhairs · 28/02/2008 12:38

As title says really. Nothing more, nothing less.

Bought a £35 'smart silk jersey shirt' from Boden and thought "ah, this is great, they are listening finally and have made their tops longer (esp. useful for those of us big of nork). Went to wash it today and it is "hand wash only" for heaven's sake.

Whose got time to hand wash nowadays? And the material is a bit thin. I should have read the details and garment description I know but grrrrrrr nonetheless ....grrrr

I never handwash anything. If you have a decent washing machine with a good delicates programme "handwash" clothes come out better than if you actually do handwash them.

Countingthegreyhairs · 07/03/2008 09:14

Oh OK thanks Anna. I do have a very good machine as it happens, just never dared tried the wool/handwash cycle, will give it a go.

Oh, go for it. I use Woolite delicates wash (the one that is suitable for hand or machine) and put the things in individually, just as I would if I were handwashing, and do the wool cycle at 30°.

It's never failed me yet.

i do the same the only thing handwash cysle or just cold cycle that gets to drycleaners these days are dh's suits and i have a cord one that gets there about once a year so as to keep the colour.
our labradoodle has brown beard & ears and is 'showing to silver' ie he is going grey (and has been since 6 months old) he is gorgeous. would have had a rescue dog if we could - we did look - but needed non shedding. does your really shed like mad - thank god ours doesnt or we'd have had toget rid of him

cloudberry · 07/03/2008 11:54

I can't quite make out the words, she has a terrible lisp you know ....! But she loves to join in when dcs and I are having a sing! And is gloriously easy to wind up. Yes she sheds like a bugger, I have to hoover the kitchen floor every day otherwise it's disgusting, I didn't know that they weren't supposed to shed but then we live in the country with endless mud so mess is part of everyday life. My dh saw a friend with one and fell in love, I had no idea what they looked like.

VanillaPumpkin · 07/03/2008 12:07

Jeremy Clarkson has a Labradoodle I believe ...

ska · 07/03/2008 16:07

so has tiger woods, the pics of his new baby featured the most gorgeous 'doodle!

My goldendoodle (out and proud)has white dreadlocks with apricot calves...she is really quite the thing. She is also the size of a Shetland pony and utterly docile. Still not likeing Boden. (Mustn't forget the point...)

LLD · 07/03/2008 19:49

And she doesn't shed, just the odd discreet tumbleweed clump.

Agree with the hand wash stuff too.

bagism · 07/03/2008 22:05

Hello, new poster here! Don't really get the enthusiasm for Boden, not really great quality, slightly boring styling, just don't get why people rave about it, sorry! Feel free to tell me otherwise!

Countingthegreyhairs · 07/03/2008 22:29

No, not at all, each to their own Bagism welcome btw - my gripe is that it isn't a patch on what it was (particularly in terms of quality) but the prices have rocketed nonetheless ... . Bought a couple of stripey cotton shirts for dd last season and you could read the paper through the material ... ridiculous ...grrrrr

Crikey LLD - size of a shetland pony ..utterly docile.... white dreadlocks with apricot calves ... now that's quality ...

She's class, she is

marmadukescarlet · 07/03/2008 23:38

I have 2 shetlands, don't let 'em in the house though...

LLD · 08/03/2008 11:54

Ok, maybe she's more of a Fallabella (sp?).
