Triple Lobe Piercing

Hi - I saw someone who had a triple lobe piercing - second and third had really tiny stud earrings and I thought it looked really good.

Whats the general consensus - do they look good or am I having a mid life crisis (47).

Also would you typically just get this done to one ear or both?

thank you!

also MN is very sniffy about gun piercings but everyone I know IRL has done this, are they really so bad?

I don't know, but I had a gun piercing for mine as I couldn't face the idea of the needle. My daughter opted for needle piercing for her lobe piercing at the same studio.

Interesting, I took my DD to get her ears pierced two years ago and was adamant it had to be needle. She found it really painful and is now traumatised, and the holes closed up the instant she took them out after the 6 weeks. In my post above I said I’m taking her for her first piercing but I just said that for ease - it would be a re piercing

I would also prefer to get a gun piercing, rather than a needle one.

sorry for hijacking your thread, OP. Your love looks great!!

Guns cause blunt force trauma and are impossible to properly sterilise. They are deliberately designed to be operable by non-professionals so the emphasis is on ease of use rather than effective method. Needles for piercing are hollow so they cause much less trauma (they basically slide through the tissue rather than punching a hole in it) and are more hygienic. There is a lot more technique involved, which is why it’s important to go to a reputable piercer.

I’ve had piercings with a gun and a needle. For me, gun was much more painful and took longer to heal. I’ll only go to piercing studios which use needles now.

On the other hand I had mine done with a gun. It was really painful, I screamed every time. I've always had issues with them.

My son had his done with a needle. He didn't feel a thing and has no issues at all.

I have this but I wear three little huggie hoops in them on both sides.

I love them with co-ordinated earrings. In my let ear I have triple lobe, helix, forward helix and tragus, and in my right I have double lobe and tragus, and I’m planning on another double helix on the right, then Ill be done.

I had double piercing on the left and single on my right from when I was 14 till about 18 months ago

NeverThatSerious · 29/07/2023 09:19

Looks so cute OP, glad you went for it!!

I have a 2+1 from when I was a teenager .
Single stud side now has a daith and the double side a forward helix.

I'd like more done but thinking of a 3rd lobe ( it will be a needle piercing as my ear isn't fleshy ) and maybe a rook ?

I think the single+daith is enough on the other ear (and I had to sleep on that side !)

Anyone remember the fashion for a double stud earring with a chain linking the 2 . For a double piercing . Very 80s I know but I'm sure 80s fashion is/will be back Grin

i think having multiple ear piercings on lobes or upper ear is now mainstream, popular and accepted for any age group. So go and do what YOU want to do

I've got three lobe piercings on each side and a single helix piercing a year ago.

I just pierced my nose a few month ago.

Im in my early 40s.

I wear delicate and sparkly gold or sterling silver as i don't like the darker grey metals. I will change my nose jewellery to a gold tone titanium one in a few weeks when it's healed.

I think if you were talking about a lip, eyebrow or cheek piercing, it might be a different story - i live them but i dont think you could hide them as easily.

nosepierce · 29/07/2023 19:14

ooh you did it - lovely!!!

Heyhoherewegoagain · 29/07/2023 21:10

I went to get my tragus changed today and somehow came out with a helix 😂

I have this on both sides. Took them out of the first hole today, so I could put in some other earrings.

I had them done by gun in the '90's! Love them.

Ooh where did you get your tiny hoops earrings ?
I have a very tiny gold hoop which is actually a nose-ring , it's a faff to get it in my 2nd piercing so I usually leave it there for weeks !

Ha! I went out shopping with DH in Feb and came back with a forward helix (I'd been thinking about it a while )

They were from Astrid & Miyu - quite spendy but sterling silver and after going through loads of other Huggies with rubbish hinges and catches on them, these have been in my ears solidly for the last three years without any issues.
