You wear slacks. With elastic at the back and a pretend belt on the front. With white socks and sensible shoes. And knitwear. This is how someone I work with dresses. She's 45.
AdamAnt, ha ha you're busted.

SammyC · 25/02/2008 19:04

I have 2 bags..........under my eyes, they are plastered with touche eclait most mornings! thats my routine.......ha! [BLUSH]

TsarChasm · 25/02/2008 19:05

Not only 'cardie' but you use the word 'comfy' too.

You buy lovely shoes but they don't get worn...not comfy

MoreSpamThanGlam · 25/02/2008 19:07

I have sooo many lovely shoes in my wardrobe...beautiful elegant things of beauty. However i most wear Chuck Taylors in a variety of colours.

OP posts:
Mercy · 25/02/2008 19:43

This reminds of a Victoria Wood sketch!

iirc she said you know you are getting old when you see a pair of Dr Scholls and think 'Mmmm, they look comfy'

Didn't Dr Scholls go all trendy though? (even using the word trendy is probably ageing actually)

Is funky old? With it? Cool?

DualCycloneCod · 25/02/2008 19:45

i hate birkenstocks]

any shoe whose ONLY redeeming feature is comfort is middle aged

OP posts:
AdamAnt · 25/02/2008 19:49

Mercy - I think "sick" is the word you're looking for. e.g. "Man, that Mickey Mouse fleece cardi is sick"

Iota · 25/02/2008 19:51

well despite being a walking example of most of these fashion crimes, I apparently look quite a lot younger than I actually am:-

Some of my fellow school gate mums have recently been stunned to realise that I am old enough to be their mother

It must be thanks to WWW magnificent 10 yrs younger thread

Heated · 25/02/2008 19:53

When you actual browse those Landsend and other freebie clothes catalogues that fall out of the paper.

Cappuccino · 25/02/2008 19:59

I do wonder what word to use

was with dd at weekend shopping saying 'trendy' 'fashionable'

I just didn't know what I was doing

Mercy · 25/02/2008 20:06

lol at sick!!

The teenage son of a friend told me that dark and nang and buff were the latest terms (but that was about 10 years ago now )

I am waiting for my other friends children to teach me teenage slang - can't be far off at aged 11.

TsarChasm · 25/02/2008 20:15

Cotton traders and damart catalogues. Oh god.

And that faux nautical looking clothing that ladies of a certain age seem to like. Usually red, white and blue with a little bit of gold piping on.
