L'Oreal Beauty Tubes Mascara - sad lack of

I'm bereft Sad
I noticed it was getting harder to find LBT mascara for a while and now it seems to have been discontinued.
I've been using this for years and it's been the best mascara I've ever tried.

Tubing, so it doesn't smudge at all but comes off easily in warm water. Much easier to remove completely than ones you need eye makeup remover for.

As well as it staying in place and ease of removal, it did a brilliant job of giving me amazing lashes. It's the only mascara that's caused people to ask if I'm wearing false eyelashes. Other tubing mascaras just don't have that sort of effect on me.
I know a natural look has its place but I miss the fabulous lashes LBT gave me.
It had one side that coated lashes with a cream-coloured primer and a second that covered that with black mascara.

I've tried a few others: a couple of L'Oreal ones (which I bought), both with 2 brushes, as that's what LBT had so thought they might be similar, but have been clumpy and a pain to get off (despite smudging easily); Clinique High Rise (I think) and Eyeko, (both from beauty boxes) both of which were okay, but nothing special.

I'd be very grateful for any recommendations - thank you!

I used to use this and switched to the No7 tubing one. I think the No7 flakes slightly less (which is what I what I was getting sick of).

Don’t buy the Kevyn Aucoin one. Great makeup generally but the tubing mascara dried out and flaked really quickly.

The Clinique one is ok. Nothing special. I think that one flaked quite a bit too.

Tigs333 · 20/06/2023 13:43

I use Lashify now, lashes stay on for 7-10 days and loads of different styles to choose from, hate using mascara now

CindersAgain · 20/06/2023 13:45

I’ve moved to Snapscara. It’s fine. And cheap. (The maybeline tubing one)

@CindersAgain thanks for that link as I have used this before and forgot what it was called and it is a lovely mascara.

raffegiraffe · 20/06/2023 16:06

Maybelline sky high is excellent. It's tubing. Nice long thick lashes and doesn't budge

YappyCamper · 20/06/2023 16:21

I agree OP. None of the other tubing mascaras are as good, even the really expensive ones.

Best of the bunch for me is the Clinique one but I still prefer L'Oréal

pharmachameleon · 20/06/2023 17:30

Nnnoooooooooooooo!!!
This is the best mascara I've ever used. Doesn't smudge and unlike other tubing mascaras it actually adds length and volume. Why L'Oréal why? 😭

nythbran2 · 20/06/2023 18:16

Heimish Dailism mascara is a great tubing mascara

TheFutureIs · 20/06/2023 18:55

I'm another one who is massively disappointed! Wish they'd given some warning and I could have stockpiled!

LaMarschallin · 20/06/2023 20:29

Well, quite!
I see it's not just me.
Seems so odd that they've stopped it when it's so good but haven't produced an alternative.
Very grateful for the suggestions for other mascaras Flowers

The Hourglass tubing mascara is the best mascara I've ever had, really worth a try.

Yorkshirelass04 · 21/06/2023 13:13

Was about to come on and say Hourglass mascara too. From cult beauty.

Over40Overdating · 21/06/2023 13:19

Number 7 is the only tubing mascara I’ve found to actually stay put - snapscara and sky high melted down my face. There is still a little flaking on number 7 but no where near as much as the rest.

TheFutureIs · 21/06/2023 14:46

I used to recommend it so often my phone has it in autocorrect!

LaMarschallin · 22/06/2023 18:58

Well, I've bought the No7 one and will give it a whirl tomorrow...

I didn't love the No 7 one-I felt my lashes were still really short and stumpy when I wore it. That was years ago though so may have changed formulations now.
I like this Collection one almost as much as the L'Oréal one as it's not as clumpy.

Have worn the No7 for a couple of days.

On the positive side, it stayed properly in place with no flaking or smudging and came off perfectly in warm water. The latter is important to me because I hate how much I have to keep wiping my eyes to get non-tubing mascara off properly.

Still not getting the luscious lashes I got from BT but better than the previous two I tried.

I also found this article by Salli Hughes on tubing mascara - she very much likes the Hourglass one.
It's also got a tip for people who like tubing mascara because it doesn't smudge:

The best tubing mascaras for serial smudgers | Mascara | The Guardian

Instead of the usual waxes and dyes, they coat each lash in a quick-drying polymer tube

I bought the No 7 one and I can't get it off! Even if I use a foaming cleanser it doesn't come off so I have to use eye makeup remover, which defeats the object really....

You have to use warm water I think don't you with tubing mascaras?

LoveLabradors · 26/06/2023 09:13

I really disliked the boots no7 one. Found it made my lashes look stumpy and brittle and wasn’t the easiest to remove!

I didn't like it either, it sort of pinched my eyelashes too and made them uncomfortable.

floppybit · 26/06/2023 10:44

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor yes, it wouldn't come off with warm water, or even cleanser and warm water. The Clinique one just comes off in the shower which is great so might go back to that one

That sounds crap! Must've changed formula because when I tried it it came off easy enough. Interested in the Collection one mentioned up thread.

YappyCamper · 26/06/2023 22:28

I tried the hourglass one after reading that article a while back. It's absolutely rubbish. Like a cheap £5 mascara from the supermarket. Lashes look stubby, it clumps up when applied and flakes off during the day. Awful.

This is bizarre because mine comes off with warm water in the shower…I have to gently agitate them once wet to get them off quickly though. I do this with a wash cloth when I’m not showering - get them wet with warm water, wait a few seconds and gently wipe them off with the hot, wet cloth.
