here are mine:

always wear nice underwear/nightwear
always wear good fitted clothes - never too tight. better to be a bit on the loose side
always wear nice shoes and always polished
always wear perfume
always have styled hair
use a nice face and body moisturiser every day
accessorise with jewellery, belts, scarves, bags etc
little bit of lippy, blusher, eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara goes a long way
always have painted finger/toe nails
get your eyebrows threaded for the best shape
get your eyelashes tinted
shave arm pits every day in shower and also legs if you don't wax them.
don't wear trainers or tracksuit bottoms unless you are planning on doing any actual exercise.
never wear anything with a cartoon character on it.

for me doing these things make me feel good about myself and make me feel attractive. i am aware that to the general public they won't be able to see much difference to my appearance whether i do these things or not except for maybe the make up and hair, but i do them for me.

well - if they make you happy - more power to your elbow (as they say).

Each to their own.

Heathcliffscathy · 21/02/2008 18:40

sex
good haircut regularly

TimeForMe · 21/02/2008 18:46

I always feel good about the way I look when I am eating healthily, exercising daily, even if its just a walk. Also, dress nicely, clean, tdiy hair and makeup.

saadia · 21/02/2008 18:52

For me the main thing is to have clean hair, I just feel generally fresher.

brimfull · 21/02/2008 18:52

wash hair and style

I don't colour mine still no grey at 45 but am sure it's just around the corner.

Wear makeup.

Wear nice accessories .

brimfull · 21/02/2008 18:53

And exercise.

OverMyDeadBody · 21/02/2008 18:56

my top tip would be accept yourself for who you are and don't always compare yourself to tohers and think "if only I where prettier/taller/thinner/bigger boobed etc".

Look after yourself, make the most of your assets, and be confident. Confidence always makes you look more attractive.

southeastastra · 21/02/2008 18:56

you're only young though nappy aren't you. i did stress alot more with make up etc when i was in my 20s. now i can't be arsed

scattyspice · 21/02/2008 18:58

I'm with Mazzy.

allgonebellyup · 21/02/2008 19:00

Just dont let yourself get bigger than a size 12.. you can wear all the makeup you want but nobody's gonna look at an overweight woman with a nicely painted nails.

belcantavinissima · 21/02/2008 19:12

omg i CANNOT believe you just said that!!!!!!

flowerybeanbag · 21/02/2008 19:13

ROFL at allgone brandishing a big wooden spoon and stirring like crazy...

NKF · 21/02/2008 19:14

I'm still reeling too.

belcantavinissima · 21/02/2008 19:17

so a size 8 skinny mini but with a face like a dogs arse would be pref to a sexy healthy size 14 would it???

allgonebellyup · 21/02/2008 19:29

nope, obviously a pretty face helps too!

but as my sis says, what's the point in spending all day at a salon and £70 on your hair/nails, when all you're going to notice is the lady with the bad muffin top hanging over her jeans??

(sorry)

piratecat · 21/02/2008 19:32

thats it for me then

belcantavinissima · 21/02/2008 19:34

well i'm a 14/16 and i dont have a muffin top because i buy clothes that fit me! even a size 10 can have a muffin top (and i've seen em!) by wearing size 8 trousers

nooka · 21/02/2008 19:34

Boy I don't do pretty much any of that list:-

Never wear any make up/moisturise (can't be bothered)
Never shave under arms (too uncomfortable)
Don't wear perfume except for special occassions
Have never had anyone do anything to my eyebrows (too painful!)
Rarely paint nails (fun, but it chips way too soon and then looks terrible
Towel dry my hair and then don't look at it (again can't be bothered)

Agree about trackie bottoms, and cartoons but not trainers. Shoes that fit seems a bit of a basic to me - I'm amazed at how many people wear shoes that aren't actually comfortable - I don't care how good they look!

I did have a style/colour assessment and do feel great when I'm dressed up in clothes that suit me, and I did restock my pants and socks at M&S the other day and that did make me happy though!

kittywise · 21/02/2008 19:41

I make myself feel better by not looking in a mirror!

reikizen · 21/02/2008 19:45

Looking in the mirror as little as possible.

mazzystar · 21/02/2008 20:28

thing is though belly up there's a saying that once you hit thirty you have to chovse between your face and your arse

and my face, and feeding it, wins every time.

dontwanttogetoutofbed · 21/02/2008 20:31

invest in great tights, it makes a huge difference in how you feel

the worse i feel about myslef, the shorter skirt i wear

then i realize that i feel good in my short skirt and my mood evens out

dontwanttogetoutofbed · 21/02/2008 20:35

i understand you nappy addict. my mother never taught me the importance of taking care of your physical appearance, she preferred us to be 'free' as in potentially in bed with ratty hair, after no shower, possibly in the clothes we wore outdoors and got food on and then fell asleep on the sofa in.
all that was fun, and indeed i am quite the free spirit, however, now that i am older i really notice that if spend some time putting my favorite body cream on every day after my shower, it makes me feel good

(ie taking care of yourself makes you feel good)

the idea is not to get possesed and think that putting on cream makes you feel good and without it you wouldn't

snowleopard · 21/02/2008 20:38

wow nappyaddict, how do you find the time? I like your last one though.

Mine are always put on a necklace and pretty ring (takes no time but makes you feel you're still making an effort), wear clothes that fit - and never reveal my bare knees (just feel miserable and uncomfortable if I do) and have a good haircut and colour. I prefer to pay for a good cut and go less often. And I get a cut that doesn't need much styling.

Big fat ole size 14-16 here allgonebellyup, with an arse the size of a planet. Seem to have been "looked at" by several men in my time (even though I don't paint my nails! )
