janett2 · 03/06/2023 13:12

Tried couple of times but gave up in the end. Started a new job and would like to be presentable at work. I am going to salon to blow dry it ( every week) its not going to workput in the long run.

I have bbh and revlon blowdry brush
How can i learn to blowdry so that it stays for 2 days atleast
Any online class or in person classes i could try ?

If i do it once every week wil there be lot of hairloss ? I am having hair loss now and my husband says i sm going to be bald. Will 1 per week cause hair loss ? I can trim the split ends. Just worried about hair loss.

Thanks xxx

Try Brad Mondo on You Tube and Facebook and also aways use a heat protection spray. If you are worried about hair loss then maybe try and find a tidy looking 'up-do' for work? . Hope you manage to find something that suits you.

I can't perfect a curly blow at home.

What I have found is that if I blow it straight with a paddle brush and then curl it with straighteners then I get longer out of a blow dry that I have done by just blowing it.

If you can't get the hang of the curling with the straighteners, can you get sone cheap barrell tongs?

If you are going to master the curly blow yourself you will need one of those round brushes that lets the air flow through.

It's so hard to do yourself.

Can we use any paddle brush or the heated ones. I tried copying my hairstylist using straighteners to create a flick at the end but it didnt come out very well.

Any YouTube video you follow for this ?

What products do you use before and after ?

Hairloss (noticeable) should be investigated - it could be thyroid issues or low iron.
I was low on iron and regular supplements have reduced my hairloss considerably

janett2 · 04/06/2023 12:47

@WhoToBeToday agree. I have thyroid and i am on medications. I am borderline anemic. Taking medication for that as well. Still hair loss is there :(

What iron amount are you taking? I am also on levo, so knew that was sorted. I was borderline anaemic and the GP said to just take bog standard OTC vits/iron (about 14mg a day).

Did bugger all really and slowly, slowly felt worse and hair loss worse. Following a thread on here I realised it was a really, really low pointless amount to take, so I upped my does to 210mg a day (I take one of these each day - though you can take up to 3 https://www.mypharmacy.co.uk/product/ferrous-fumarate-tablets-84/) Still OTC.

Took a couple of weeks but energy levels much improved and hairloss gone.

Follow Matt loves hair on insta. The best technique I find is to twist the brush with the hair on and pull it down an inch or 2, then repeat. Gives a nice bouncy wave.
Be careful with the revlon and don't use on the hottest heat; it fried my hair.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/06/2023 20:59

I had terrible hair breakage with Babyliss Big Hair but the Revlon One Step is fine and I don't get any damage and I use it every other day. I use a heat protector spray .

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/06/2023 21:02

** just to add I use the Revlon One step as a finishing tool NOT a drier. I rough dry with a hairdryer then finish off on lowest setting with the One Step.

Hi @janett2 As well as techniques and tools, there are some amazing products that really help - I’ve got thin and frizzy hair and these two have been complete game changers for me:

Bed Head - Small Talk Hair Thickening Cream (it’s £8, lasts me about 6 months)Two pumps of this on fingertips then rub through damp hair before drying, concentrate on the roots.

Frizz Ease - 3 Day Straight Spray (£7, this one lasts me about 4 months) Spray it through damp hair before drying - it honestly does what it claims in that hair stays smooth until the third day even after sleeping on it. It’s brilliant.

Good luck!

Volume Cream

Straightening Spray

That’s interesting! I’m underactive thyroid, take floradix but noticed more hair loss recently and just thought it was age (51) related so will up dose.

For me I’ve watched blow drying tutorials on YouTube which help.

these two are the best ones I’ve seen:-

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EADq52UpAOE

actually I remember, once I asked my hairdresser at the time to show me slowly what she did (she’d had a cancellation after me so had time) and basically it was using brushes and sticking them up all over and then she bkowdried it out and straight afterwards. She said when she was training basically it’s all about practice but she also said don’t blow dry soaking wet hair, it has to be dried off first and you get “conversion point” after that which is basically when the hair when blow dried will hold and take a style better.

2-3 days

Rina66 · 07/06/2023 06:49

If I want to blow dry my hair properly, it's all about directing that nozzle down the hair shaft, so rather than holding it in front of the brush, try to get the hairdryer above the brush and really point it downwards.
Get hair 80% dry by rough drying but still pointing the nozzle down the hair, don't tip head forward.
Sectioning is a must and work methodically around the head - I start at the front though as my front can be very kinky.
I think a cool shot of air really works too for shine and longevity.
Blast each section once properly dry.
For root lift and the crown I force the area in to the opposite direction I want it to lay in and dry just the roots that way.

janett2 · 07/06/2023 13:57

@GonnaGetGoingReturns thanks very much :) just wondering if i can do the same with my revlon one step thingy ?

I forgot. Product is key whether it’s mousse, spray wax etc. you could try with revlon one step.

as @Rina66 ssys, 80% dry, sectioning and pointing nozzle down are key. When I’m doing it when I have time I do all those and it helps,
