Wedding guest hot country HELP

Hello!
Going to a pretty stylish wedding in a very hot country - need a dress! I'm a bit fat (5ft 8 size 16) but I carry it fairly well when clothed.... although I don't want anything short or arm revealing. I'd do spaghetti straps with something covering my shoulders though. STRICTLY NO DITSY FLORALS (sorry, just not my thing)
Needs to be non-sweaty natural fabrics, which rules out a lot of cos as their stuff is fairly heavy.
Usually wear neutrals or black/ khaki although am quite into cobalt blue and orangey red for an occasion. No pastels/ lime green/ yellow.
My style is usually fairly simple but with red lipstick and big jewellery to elevate it. Ideal thing would be some sort of floaty kaftan affair that could be dressed up with big hoops, trapeze dress that works with a bra etc. I tend to shop in Cos, Arket, Monki, H&M, Uniqlo. I've had some great occasion dresses fairly cheap from H&M in the past but nothing is catching my eye as yet.

If anyone sees anything suitable please send my way!

@Laiste that geometric one is lovely!

I’d recommend HotSquash - their maxi dresses fit really well and their clothes are made with wicking fabric, perfect for summer heat ☀️

100 stars dresses. Light floaty ans cover a multitude. Look at Abbi or Rachel styles xx

OP, I live in a very hot country and there is no way that a wedding would be held outdoors – is it worth checking with the hosts to find out? Just thinking that the vast majority of events here are held in air-conditioned comfort which would mean you wouldn't have to worry about the heat and could wear whatever you wanted/already have in the wardrobe.

I've just been to a wedding in Santorini. I was very unsure about what to wear but plumped for this in the end. It comes in blue, red and a gorgeous yellow (I know you said not yellow though). Covers a multitude of sins but is very floaty and 'different'. Got so many compliments. https://m.rosewe.com/chiffon-light-blue-flower-decoration-jumpsuit-g302988.html?epik=dj0yJnU9Zmg0NkxUcEVwcFIwUjhkazY5Q0J0LUEwaUhEbk0zQ0MmcD0wJm49cWF0dVVJUzlTTmlkSjZWcl9IV0tBQSZ0PUFBQUFBR1I5aUhB

I was at a wedding in Tuscany last year that was entirely outdoors, including the ceremony. It was 30 odd degrees and the limoncello was like hot Lemsip 😂

You've never seen so many British people crammed into one corner of shade 😂

I went to a wedding in Turkey that was held on the beach while the sun set, it was still like 30deg (was peaking at 40) and my wedges melted in the sand.

OP I know mumsnet has strong opinions on puff sleeves, but I think they are really flattering and keep the armpit material away from the armpit and thus keeps you cool.

I don't a wedding to go to, but that green Stories dress is very tempting.

huffyhufferson · 05/06/2023 13:43

Have a wee look at Fashion World/Simply Be. They start at size 14. Have lots of dresses in style & colours. Good luck & enjoy the wedding.

ArielManto43 · 05/06/2023 16:36

How about Masai? They do nice wafty, flattering summer dresses and are very good quality. This one has the cobalt blue and tomatoey red colours you mentioned, but they have hundreds of others on the website.

Thanks everybody I thought I'd updated this!

@Kitholly I'd absolutely bake in that I think 😂 loved looking through all the suggestions so thank you for taking the time.

I actually ordered a few from Zara and will take them all along and decide on the day I think. One is (shock horror) polyester and not my colour at all - I surprised myself ! but it's very sheer and light and looks good. I'll try and post pics
