Wedding guest hot country HELP

Hello!
Going to a pretty stylish wedding in a very hot country - need a dress! I'm a bit fat (5ft 8 size 16) but I carry it fairly well when clothed.... although I don't want anything short or arm revealing. I'd do spaghetti straps with something covering my shoulders though. STRICTLY NO DITSY FLORALS (sorry, just not my thing)
Needs to be non-sweaty natural fabrics, which rules out a lot of cos as their stuff is fairly heavy.
Usually wear neutrals or black/ khaki although am quite into cobalt blue and orangey red for an occasion. No pastels/ lime green/ yellow.
My style is usually fairly simple but with red lipstick and big jewellery to elevate it. Ideal thing would be some sort of floaty kaftan affair that could be dressed up with big hoops, trapeze dress that works with a bra etc. I tend to shop in Cos, Arket, Monki, H&M, Uniqlo. I've had some great occasion dresses fairly cheap from H&M in the past but nothing is catching my eye as yet.

If anyone sees anything suitable please send my way!

To add, I also love a jumpsuit but the standard shirt style top with even short sleeves will be too sweaty for this occasion.

Have a look at DLSB - I'm exactly the same height and size as you and got one of their dressed for a wedding in 30 degree heat last year. Nice and wafty, especially around the armpits! Even the one size dresses fit me really well.

@Saxendi I actually ordered that and tried it on! Right up my street but it was VERY thick fabric (although natural) so coupled with the longish sleeves made it a bit too hot x

I had a look at them last summer and wanted practically everything!

However there were no reviews on the website, so before ordering i hunted them out on trust pilot and there were loads of really awful reviews and it put me off.

OP I would def recommend a lightweight jump suit as a fab idea for a hot wedding though, if you can find the perfect one.

Actually looking at your second style pic (pink dress) what about a v lighweight wafty kaftan style dress?

Ah I've only ever had good experiences with them! Sent a few thing back but I do that with most places if I don't love it. I can vouch for them :)

Laiste · 01/06/2023 13:59

@JorisBonson thank you :)

Maybe i'll give them a go then.
I don't normally get all up in my head about reviews, but this was after a bad experience with Never Fully Dressed being really disappointing quality and i was in a wary state of mind!

JorisBonson · 01/06/2023 14:08

@Laiste I've only ever had one poor quality skirt (hem fell down), I tweeted them about it and they sent me a replacement straight away :)

Bearpawk · 01/06/2023 23:18

@Laiste love a kaftan and never thought it Etsy - thank tou

@Howmanyroses I've always been a bit worried about sweat patches showing with silk - guess I'd have to be careful about the colour choice.

@TWmover love the colours, thank you! but I think 100% polyester is a no go in that heat.

What's the country? "Stylish" weddings mean very different things depending on the country. (I'm in Italy and weddings traditionally require full on evening gowns for example)

So1invictus · 02/06/2023 09:32

I also buy about 50% of my clothes from Cos. The last wedding I went to here I wore a navy jumpsuit from Boden which from a distance looked like a long dress. Fucking hated it and flogged it on eBay the week after but it was the only thing that I knew would work without being a long dress.

ggccsseeeee · 02/06/2023 09:35

Wyse or Me and Em? Lots of dresses on both.
