Jumpsuit & Playsuit fans: Don't you ever go to the loo?

The very thought of them reminds me of miserably getting undressed in the loo on ski-ing holidays (and you can forget a quick pee behind a bush!) I thought maybe the jumpsuits now in the shops would be trick items that are really trousers and a top, but no.

Why on earth would you want to undo your top and artfully drape most of the garment over your arm while peeing, taking care to keep it off the floor?

Even worse for me as I sometimes have to change my underwear. Tricky enough with trousers; wide legs are a blessing as they'll go over my shoes! I really wouldn't want to strip off in a pub toilet.

Is there some tactic I've failed to learn, or have you all got cast-iron bladders? Confused

I was also wondering this. For me it doesn’t matter though, as I can’t wear jumpsuits anyway due to my extremely flat bum which looks about a mile long in jumpsuits.

Angharad78 · 28/05/2023 18:41

I love a jumpsuit! All the togetherness of a dress but generally with pockets. The ones I have are mostly button down fronts so I undo those and largely proceed as normal!

😂
"Does my bum look big in this?"
"I thought that was a pair of capacious back pockets!"

I wee a lot. I stick to jumpsuits that fasten at the front, or slip down the shoulder. I don't go for ones with a zip up back.

My mum has a wide short playsuit that she can pull to one side and go for a wee. Thats not a skill I have.

Lcb123 · 28/05/2023 19:08

I wear jumpsuits a lot and never had any problems. I get ones that fasten at the front, much easier

cocksstrideintheevening · 28/05/2023 19:12

Front fastening or slip off shoulders. Never had an issue.

GingerPigz · 28/05/2023 19:14

I recently asked a similar question on here and received some very practical advice about lifting the trouser legs up and the top part down so it all meets in the middle (below the groin - obviously). I am proud to report that it absolutely works and I now wear jumpsuits regularly!

Pigtailsandall · 28/05/2023 19:16

I wear lots of jumpsuits because I don't like dresses much. I don't really get the problem - go to the loo, slip the top down and wee 🤷‍♀️ As for bush wees, I live in the city so I can't imagine where I'd do one anyway. Some of the jumpsuits have a wrap top so they just slide off; few fasten at back but I can comfortably reach the zip so it's not really an issue

pastabest · 28/05/2023 19:17

It's pretty much all I wear!

I wear a vest top underneath so never feel naked. Other than that I just pull them down like a very long pair of trousers.

I mainly wear stretchy ones or wrap front ones.

Bargellobitch · 28/05/2023 19:17

Because I look great in a jumpsuit.😂 Also (and honestly I don't mean this to be unkind I get it) I'm not having to change my underwear regularly or needing to go urgently. I suspect if people are this isn't a garment for them.

But honestly whipping a top down for a wee is just no bother for me. I suppose we all have different tolerance levels for what we find inconvenient.

IWonderWhereThatDishDidGo · 28/05/2023 19:19

I love a boiler suit and dungarees. But I only wear ones I can take off quickly and I generally wear a vest top or tank top underneath so if I was ever desperate for a bush wee (which I haven't needed in years tbh) I would not be any less dressed than someone in jeans and a tank top having a wee in a bush!

I'd say a zip up boiler suit takes the same length of time to get in and out of as a pair of trousers with buttons

Isthisexpected · 28/05/2023 19:22

I know what you mean. I find I have to hold the arms to stop the belt going down the toilet behind me.

Sandysandwich · 28/05/2023 19:25

I love jumpsuits and playsuits, cute like a dress but without having to worry about the wind blowing it up or having to do the elegant drop instead of just bending at the waist to pick things up.
I don't find it that inconvenient in the toilet- no more than having to gather up a long skirt, flip a long cardigan over your arm or stop wide legged trousers pooling on the floor.
Only time I am not a fan is during festivals because trying to keep everything sorted in a dark and filthy portaloo is way to much stress- especially when your desperate or a bit drunk

mycatsanutter · 28/05/2023 19:32

I prefer jumpsuits to dresses , I hate clothes shopping so I ignored the inconvenience of jumpsuits zipping up the back . I wriggle around in the loo and often ask a stranger to help me if I can't quite reach the zip .

ThreeRingCircus · 28/05/2023 19:34

I have some bladder issues and when I need to go, I really need to go if you see what I mean. I still wear jumpsuits a lot though as they're so comfortable. I just stick to ones that fasten easily at the front or are stretchy enough that I can just slip off my shoulders.

GarlicGrace · 28/05/2023 19:43

Ah. A stretchy one that can stand being screwed up during The Manoeuvre would make more sense!

I also like the idea of wearing a top underneath, just so you don't feel nekkid on the loo 😆

I'm still very unlikely (very, very unlikely) to get myself one, mind you ...

This works. I usually wear culotte jumpsuits so rolling up the leg is easy & no need to undress your top half at all.

Rampantukulele · 28/05/2023 19:54

Don't find it too much of an issue except it takes a little longer to go to toilet. Usually I wear a crop top or crop vest underneath. Unusually yesterday I didn't and actually for first time did feel a bit uncomfortable because I was topless in a busy public toilet with a door that didn't lock.

BrunchMonster · 28/05/2023 19:55

I bought one recently that I really liked the colour and pattern of, and it looks quite nice on, and I could cycle in it, so I decided to keep it, but I'm worried about the loo situation, so haven't worn it yet. It's the zip up the back that annoys me. I can just about reach around and pull down with one hand and up with the other to get enough tension, but any sort of arm issue or whatever and I fear I will be stuck! (I live alone, too. And wee often). Can't decide whether to send it back or just wear it for the occasions when I hope not to need to go often, rather than as an all day outfit. Or maybe get one of those zip-grabber things/tie a ribbon to the zip to help but make it look integral?!

BrunchMonster · 28/05/2023 19:56

It would have been so much better if it zipped up at the side, like some dresses do. I'd buy a lot more of them if they did. (Weird Fish), as I like them for cycling and still looking smart, which I haven't mastered in a skirt. It has sleeves, too, so can't just unbutton and slip it down.

IWonderWhereThatDishDidGo · 28/05/2023 20:04

Yes, mine all zip or button up the front.

I did have one years ago with a zip up the back and that got swiftly sold on!

PetitPorpoise · 28/05/2023 20:10

I love them. I always wear cami style ones over a tshirt so they just slip off my shoulders.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 28/05/2023 20:10

I love jumpsuits. But my latest has tiny little buttons down the front and therefore only suitable for the strongest of bladders.

Anoana · 28/05/2023 20:11

They're really not that tricky. I wore my jumpsuit to a festival last week and managed fine in a portaloo 😁

BitOutOfPractice · 28/05/2023 20:13

I don’t see why it’s harder to bunch up a jumpsuit round your knees than trousers 🤷‍♀️
