Jumpsuit & Playsuit fans: Don't you ever go to the loo?

GarlicGrace · 28/05/2023 18:33

The very thought of them reminds me of miserably getting undressed in the loo on ski-ing holidays (and you can forget a quick pee behind a bush!) I thought maybe the jumpsuits now in the shops would be trick items that are really trousers and a top, but no.

Why on earth would you want to undo your top and artfully drape most of the garment over your arm while peeing, taking care to keep it off the floor?

Even worse for me as I sometimes have to change my underwear. Tricky enough with trousers; wide legs are a blessing as they'll go over my shoes! I really wouldn't want to strip off in a pub toilet.

Is there some tactic I've failed to learn, or have you all got cast-iron bladders? Confused

I’ve got loads. A couple are a bit fiddly as they have little buttons down the front but generally it’s not an issue.

Real reason for posting here though is to remind all you ladies who can’t wear a jumpsuit due to bladder issues to DO YOUR PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES.

3 x a day 🙂

Leaking isn’t normal and in many cases you don’t have to just accept it.

I wee a lot. I stick to jumpsuits that fasten at the front, or slip down the shoulder. I don't go for ones with a zip up back.

My mum has a wide short playsuit that she can pull to one side and go for a wee. Thats not a skill I have.

Also get ones with front zip, never had an issue. With short leg ones I also do the pull to one side wee, works fine 😂

I don’t see why it’s harder to bunch up a jumpsuit round your knees than trousers 🤷‍♀️

More fabric usually.
And a naked top half.
And often fundamentally more difficult to get in and out of anyway if it's a back zip - like this for example https://www.nancymac.co.uk/products/sable-jumpsuit-in-peacock-silk-velvet-1

Ah. A stretchy one that can stand being screwed up during The Manoeuvre would make more sense!

I also like the idea of wearing a top underneath, just so you don't feel nekkid on the loo 😆

I'm still very unlikely (very, very unlikely) to get myself one, mind you ...

I don't understand the MN love for jumpsuits. I very, very, rarely see anyone wearing one in real life.

This was posted as a suggestion for a London party in another thread. It's one of the ugliest things I've seen for a while. It's even worse than those Nancy Mac things

Stressfordays · 28/05/2023 21:06

I pull playsuits and body suits to the side. I don't wear jumpsuits.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/05/2023 21:37

I have a denim boiler suit which buttons down the front, and a plisse floral one. Always wear a vest top underneath, it’s fine.

BungleandGeorge · 28/05/2023 21:51

There isn’t much more material than trousers. It’s going to depend on the style how much you need to manouvere

bryceQ · 28/05/2023 21:58

I wear them loads doesn't bother me. I don't care about sitting in a bra or crop top on the loo... Who can see me? I find them easy...

Jumpsuit

I thought the same when I saw that! Okay, I suggested a dress (vetoed) and one of the jumpsuits the OP liked was really nice. I don't see a one-piece as any better than trousers and a matching top, though! Significantly worse if you're as prone to spillages and leakages as I am Blush

Wearing one now.

It buttons down the front

Yanbu

Branster · 28/05/2023 22:45

I absolutely love jumpsuits and a mental review tells me they can all be lowered down the arms then treat like trousers. Not intentionally, but I don't have any with a zip at the back, not sure if I'd manage that in a hurry.

I find they are practical, they also have pockets and they look great. And they work with different footwear which makes them versatile.
But I only like the ones with very long legs, I think they look much better than 3/4 legs or just grazing the ankles.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 28/05/2023 22:51

This has never been an issue for me, because I am too busy being cheeswired to death anytime I wear a jumpsuit, due to my freakishly long torso.

UsingChangeofName · 28/05/2023 23:23

I'm with you OP.

All those saying 'it buttons down the front' - that doesn't help if you've got other things on though, like a cross body bag or a cardigan, or jacket, does it?

There aren't many pub toilets that I would want to be undressing in, and trying to find somewhere to put things as you take them off.

😂cheesewired

I too have an abnormal torso, so suspect I might have the same problem!

@UsingChangeofName, everything you said. Bonkers.

Pigtailsandall · 29/05/2023 10:54

I'm finding this thread increasingly odd. OP has started it because they don't like jumpsuits, and when people come up to tell her that actually it's fine to go to loo on a jumpsuit she calls them bonkers. Just don't wear a jumpsuit then. I don't go to the pet section just to start a conversation about how much I hate French Bulldogs.

Also don't really get the issue of sitting on a pub loo in my bra. Do people go for communal wees with others? I do worse stuff in toilets than expose my bra.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/05/2023 11:56

@Pigtailsandall yes I've wondered about the OP's motive too.

woodhill · 29/05/2023 12:59

I couldn't do that thing where you pull one leg to the side, what happens to your knickers?

GettingStuffed · 29/05/2023 13:10

I have one that has a zip that only goes up to bra line and then has a button and elastic fastening at the back so it's easy to use the loo.

I like it because it flatters me.

GarlicGrace · 29/05/2023 14:00

What motive could I possibly have, @Pigtailsandall @ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea ? I'm not fundraising for STOP JUMPSUITS NOW 😂

I asked a question that bugs me every time I see the jumpsuit love on MN. It's a light conversational topic, not a desperate plea (or pee) for guidance.

FWIW, replies did convince me that a stretchy jumpsuit could be less of a hassle. I still don't much see the point of them, though!

As you said, nobody's forcing me to wear one. And nobody's forcing you to join a thread if you don't like it.

I have no idea what ulterior motive you're being suspected of by asking. Jumpsuits along with "a blazer" appear in the answer to almost every "what do I wear" query on here, yet in real life (I work full time in a city, go out a lot socially) I rarely see them. I don't see the point much either.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/05/2023 15:34

I think they are suggesting you are some kind of jumpsuit pervert Shock! I would have thought that was a very niche interest but I'm not up to speed with all the modern perversities

Yes, this is why I only wore dungarees during lockdown. Too difficult when out and about for most of the year when you need a jacket or coat over it. I wouldn't want to take everything off in a public toilet when they rarely even have a hook on the door to hang anything.

EugeneEufy · 29/05/2023 16:00

Sweaty Betty Gary Jumpsuits are the best. Flattering, comfortable and easy to get your arms out of 😃

LoobyDop · 29/05/2023 16:03

It’s really not that much of a problem, but I make a point of not hanging out in places with really grim toilets where you don’t want to touch anything.
