Strappy dress over white T-shirt

Can someone point me in the direction of a longish summer dress with straps to wear over a white T-shirt? I'm hopeless with clothes but see this on people and it looks good. I'm size 16, lowish budget!

Yay if this look is back - I wore it in 1992 and I'm ready to wear it again now!

Also it's the only way I'll be wearing a crop top these days Grin

Going by what my 11 year old dd has requested clothes wise, late 90's fashion appears to be coming back! Although its more cargo trousers and vest tops, think All Saints (the band) and Britney in the Hit Me Baby video, for the youngsters! (Praying popper trousers do not return!!)

Oh yay, is 1997 back? I genuinely loved that style ❤️😁

Hehe I was thinking this!

You need little bias cut dresses in jewel colours for the full Nineties experience.
And a velvet trimmed cardi.

I have both the Asda and Marksies dresses quoted up thread, the Asda dress have in the geometric print rather than daisy print......the back of it is sort of elasticated so it's also quite forgiving.

I would suggest purchasing or trying on in multiple styles and sizes as I bought 4 different prints and 3 different sizes and the 14 in one print fit while the 16 in another print didn't! Also in one of the dresses their was great but the strap on the left was about an inch in the wrong place so it looked terrible. But the one that did work (black geo print size 14) is actually a lovely style and flattering to a large tummy and will also work with a denim shirt over the top tied at the middle!!

The M&S dress is like a potato sack on me until I add a belt in the middle then it looks brilliant and much more "styled".

I'll.be doing this too

Ah I loved this. I had a great black and white bias cut top shop dress which I wore with over the knee socks and knee high lace up boots. I'd be laughed at if I wore it like that now but it was a great look.

I quite like the strappy, baggy jumpsuit with tshirt underneath look in a bit of a homage which hides my stomach

I like that look too but fear at 58 and size 16 I'll just look like a bag lady 😣

Argh it just got more complicated!! I don't know where to start.

Also Miss Selfridge, Internacionale, Tammy Girl, Kookai, Morgan. <3

Im living for 90's dresses coming back.

Don’t forget Pilot and Jane Norman and if you were from midlands Owen Owen.

Agreed re dress having a sort of sweetheart neckline like a cami dress.

I was in my early to mid 20s when this was in fashion and had either a Top Shop black knee length dress or maybe Kookai or Miss Selfridge. I also used to work in Kensington High Street where as well as the indoor market, we had Barkers, Hyper Hyper, the sample seconds floor in Kookai upstairs from their shop, Morgan once had a everything £10 couple of days! I miss a peacock/petrol blue long line linen with wood buttons Morgan jacket I had! Plus either in lunch break or I skived, I’d go to Portobello Road fashion market on Fridays (and Saturdays).

I seem to recall wearing a floppy velvet hat with a turned up brim too.

I keep getting this one advertised to me on Facebook and really like it! Am currently 6 months pregnant and trying to decide if it’s loose enough to accommodate my bump

That's lovely and looks big enough for a bump!
