Please inspire me with beautiful crossbody bags

I am giving lots of my headspace to thinking about a new crossbody bag. These are a few of the ones that are occupying my mind. A Free People Hudson sling in a lovely raspberry / cranberry colour, and a (very expensive) Jigsaw Ada in gold leather.

I've just had a bit of work that means I feel quite justified in getting a new bag but I want to choose the right one. Free People bags generally are appealing to me and I also like their Brato Belt bag, but I haven't had that much work (£398's worth).

If anyone is interested, I am looking for a bag:

I can use everyday
That has space for a toddler's cardigan / water bottle / snacks etc.
That's worn hands-free across the body
That won't stain my clothes or become tatty (bit worried because the Hudson is suede)
That IS NOT a camera bag - they look a bit stiff for my style (although I realise the Jigsaw bag has elements of 'camera'
That is fun and will make me happy each time I use it (i.e. everyday)

My current day to day bag is a nice Joules (not a very on-brand brand for me)satchel style leather bag. I like it but I want something else.

Any thoughts?

I also would like the strap to be quite wide - like 7cm. So demanding!

I’ve just recently got one of these bags and it is so comfortable and just the right size for me. They do a bigger version too. Sorry if it’s already been suggested, I haven’t read the other comments.

After a recommendation on here, I've just ordered a city bag plus from PomPom London. I reckon it would fit your toddler bits in comfortably. I was also recommended the Mayfair which looks less structured but smaller. They do various deals but you usually get two wide straps for not much more than just the bag. They do other bags too, lots of nice colours!

I really quite like that free people one.

I think that's the camera style that OP is keen to avoid.

I really want one of these but don't like the gold hardware so will wait and see if they bring out silver. The Mayfair and city are small, city plus bigger but not sure it would accommodate toddler bits.

I was going to suggest Anna Pugh or Wanderers Travel co. I use a Wanderers Santorini as my day to day bag, it's lovely and soft. Mine is black, but they do other colours.

I absolutely love the first free people one you posted.

Does anyone know of a cheaper version of the free people bag? It's lovely but a bit too pricey for me.

Not keen on the Pom Pom bags as they seem very ubiquitous around my way. I like the look of them but I don't like looking like everyone else. Also, want a softer shape, so although I can see the Radley bags are nice quality and design, they're not for me. Mia Tui likewise look good quality, but not for me.

The Wanderers are much more my style but the straps look long - can you wear them across your chest?! I'm so fussy. I probably buy a bag twice a decade - hence the pickiness!

The Hally Mini I really like - it speaks to the bit of me that appreciates a touch of Swedish minimalist style. If I was allowed multiple bags I would get it but... not keen on black and would prefer an adjustable strap.

I have a friend who would love the Fable England bags, but not my style. I might send her a link.

My search continues with Free People's two contenders still in the lead.

I second Wanderers travel co. The leather is beautiful, and the straps are adjustable. 20% off atm too.

I love that free people one but would personally want it in canvas. The colour is lovely. Suede would be ruined within a week on the school run. I have a thread about bags too and can't find anything I like so far.

I've got the Free People Hudson one in chocolate and unfortunately it's not as nice in real life. It's a bit floppy and shapeless and is much smaller than it looks - can't recommend
