Hair bow to a wedding?

Overitx · 18/05/2023 16:11

I have a beautiful dark navy dress. I want a hair accessory But not a fascintor. Would it look really naff if I wore my hair half up half down as the photo with the bow attached to just above the half way line?

I think the bow would look a bit twee and dated to be honest. Would you not go for something similar to what is in the first picture you posted?

Overitx · 18/05/2023 16:19

Thanks for your honesty. You’re probably right and I couldn’t quite put it into words what I meant - but you’ve explained it well.

problem is I have no other accessories so will have to be no accessories

I hate that I have no style!

Noooo, that's what we used to wear in the 80s and there's a reason they haven't come back in fashion!

Yes, that picture brought on a proper flashback!

Personally I'm all for a hat or fascinator, otherwise an elaborate updo.

Catsonskis · 18/05/2023 19:42

I have to disagree with the above, bows are massively in again now! Go for it if you like it, or a chunky headband is my go to!

Findyourneutralspace · 18/05/2023 19:51

Surely it’s time Fergie bows made a comeback?

Bluenigellas · 18/05/2023 19:54

I also disagree with the above, they are definitely making a comeback! I actually think fascinators look pretty dated now. Go for it!

rainraingoawaay · 18/05/2023 19:57

Go for it!! Love a giant statement hair bow!

Fashion is cyclical, we're back on the bow hype now 😂

bravotango · 18/05/2023 19:58

Bows are in! I like it, it'll be something different

Cosycover · 18/05/2023 19:58

Bows are totally in at the moment. I think that would be lovely.

fyn · 18/05/2023 19:59

I love a big hair bow (and so do my friends) but also was not alive in the 80s so that context is completely lost on me!

Infusionist · 18/05/2023 20:02

I like the bow! Or a proper hat, but deff not a fascinating.

Crikeyalmightey · 18/05/2023 20:03

Don't wear a bow, it IS a twee look. How about a nice hair accessory (shiny maybe)?

xelous · 18/05/2023 20:14

I would wear that bow, it's beautiful. I'm late 20s

xelous · 18/05/2023 20:14

Can we also see the dress please?

YouHeardTheRumoursFromInes · 18/05/2023 20:24

Bows are definitely back! Wear it!

Morag273 · 18/05/2023 20:38

Bows are definitely back. Check out Clementine & Mint for gorgeous bows. I say wear it!

Haywirecity · 18/05/2023 20:42

You don't need to wear a hat. Or a fancy bow. It's perfectly OK to just wear your hair however you like, hatless.

BriarHare · 18/05/2023 20:43

It’s terrible. Don’t do it.

Overitx · 18/05/2023 22:05

Thanks everyone. Mixed feedback but I’ve decided against it. I was also born after the 80s so don’t have any reference to them being in style back then.

I really like big bows but I think you’d need a nice bright colour/pattern, navy with navy would be too matchy matchy.

louderthan · 18/05/2023 23:20

Go for a dramatic headband a la Penny Mordaunt at the coronation

daisychain01 · 19/05/2023 06:29

Yesterday I bought a navy fascinator for a June wedding and I have to say I'm really pleased with it. In Sainsbury Tu of all places.

I don't like hats at weddings because they crush my hair flat and then when I have to take it off for the reception, I look a mess.

the fascinator on the other hand is really flexible as you can take it off or leave it on until the evening, which I intend to do.

the bow looks nice but I see you've decided against it OP, try Sainsbury if there's one near you as they had a big selection of hair accessories, obviously for summer weddings. I could have bought at least 4 different options, they were so nice. I went for the navy one as it's a versatile colour.
