Is this too long/dark for a late June wedding?

Struggling to find something I like! I like this, but worry it’s more a September colour?

If it’s just for the night do it’s fine.
Its a bit ‘look at me’ for the ceremony.

Doggymummar · 18/05/2023 14:32

Agree

ilovemydogmore · 18/05/2023 14:33

It's too 'party' and not wedding enough. Needs to be either more formal and less thin and tight.

Infusionist · 18/05/2023 14:34

Agree with PPs - the colour is fine but the style isn’t ‘summer wedding’ at all. Too leggy!

Geranium1984 · 18/05/2023 14:36

Probably need more information about the wedding. Isn't really suitable for a church in the afternoon type of wedding. Would be ok if the evening reception was black tie though.

Aixellency · 18/05/2023 14:37

It is a bit autumnal in colour - but the main issue is the backless-ness. Presumably you have a jacket, if it’s a church service?

Is it a black tie event?

pimplebum · 18/05/2023 14:38

If you don't poke your led out and add a bit of coulor it's ok
Black traditionally means you disapprove of the wedding

Verigio · 18/05/2023 14:41

Thanks all. I did think it probably wasn’t appropriate. It’s a barn wedding, full day, so will keep looking.

I will be 5 months pregnant and haven’t lost the baby weight from my first born so none of my dresses fit and I’m having a bit of a crisis! I had a lovely dress ready to go but it doesn’t fit 😭

Far too much for a day time wedding guest. It's not classy enough.

mistermagpie · 18/05/2023 14:42

I've worn maxi dresses to the last three weddings I've been to, two were also halter neck ish (although not backless), so I'm not averse in principle, but something about this one doesn't seem quite right for a wedding.

I think it's the material, it's too tight and shiny. I think you could probably do better even if the style is close to what you want.

fajitaaa · 18/05/2023 14:42

Absolutely not for a wedding in a barn

mistermagpie · 18/05/2023 14:43

Definitely not for a barn, I think you need something a bit more 'wholesome'!

Verigio · 18/05/2023 14:47

Spring colours and shorter length is what I’m struggling with at the moment as I’m bigger than I’m used to and my instinct is to hide in long and dark.

This is the dress I have in my wardrobe but it is already too tight on my developing bump and I have 6 weeks of growing to go!

How about one of these, (from my new favourite place). The very plain looking one has a nice pleated back.

Ah, sorry - missed your updates!

Aixellency · 18/05/2023 15:00

Perhaps we have very different ideas of wedding attire! (I would be looking for a plain and striking silhouette in a strong colour, to act as a background for my best jewels and smartest accessories.)

Verigio · 18/05/2023 15:09

Thanks both! The look of the second one definitely, but I have red hair so struggle with coral and some shades of pink. I was thinking maybe a brighter magenta or green/blue if it has to be pastel. Not very good with pastel either tbf! What a minefield.

It's not very suitable for a wedding, it's more of a party dress

LookItsMeAgain · 18/05/2023 15:15

I too have red hair and I think so long as you look confident, you can wear any colour, even pinks or corals.

Verigio · 18/05/2023 15:15

I love option 2! Worried it won’t fit my bump but the dress is great. I’ve not heard of quiz before, going to have a little roam around the website.

Confidence is the issue at the moment- the last wedding I went to I was a 12, then I had my baby. Currently my hips are a 16, boobs 18, and my stomach is a 20, probably going to be closer to 22 when the bump gets bigger.

At five months pregnant I would have thought you'll be more comfortable in a maternity dress, or at least something that's fitted under your boobs and then flares out. And yes, for a barn wedding something a bit less shiny and blingy than either of your first two options. Maybe a tea dress or a maxi?

Based om your latest update - have a look at the curve range on Quiz too.
