I tried this dress on earlier. I liked it but probably didn’t love it. What do you think?

I don’t really want to buy clothes that don’t make me feel great but I’m so desperate for new clothes I’m getting a bit fed up!

I love the colour but it looks too tight across the bust. If you don’t love it, I think with your figure you could find something better.

summerfinn · 07/05/2023 15:30

It's okay. Not anything amazing

clpsmum · 07/05/2023 15:30

I like it and think it looks great on you

PissPotPourri · 07/05/2023 15:39

This would look lovely if it were a long dress. The length is not right on you, imo.

useitorlose · 07/05/2023 15:43

Nope, the proportions are wrong but it's a nice colour.

KirstenBlest · 07/05/2023 15:44

The top could be slightly looser. The skirt part is too short for the top part.
Otherwise OK

grayhairdontcare · 07/05/2023 15:44

It's not right... better things out there that will suit you

Not sure of your budget but Nobody’s Child have some mini dresses in the sale https://www.nobodyschild.com/outlet/outlet-dresses.html?apparel_type=Mini+Dress the fabric is quite nice on their dresses .

This is a Nobody’s Child dress so great minds! I think you’re right about the bust. Unfortunately a bigger size would be too big around the waist. I’ve not managed to find one of their dresses that fits me perfectly yet 🙈

I also tried this long one on but wasn’t sure if it swamped me as I’m only 5’3. I just can’t seem to find anything that’s quite right.

Thanks everyone! It’s certainly not an overwhelming yes so I think that’s a no then! My husband really liked it but I don’t really trust his opinion on clothes 😂

Keeping with the blue theme, there’s this ( although I know M&S is not everyone’s thing they do have some good dresses this season )https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-printed-tie-neck-mini-dress/p/clp60594471?color=BLUEMIX#intid=plpnav_pid_pg1pip48g4r3c3|prodflag_plp_ts_QP_43
or this one ( slightly different style but still the v neck ) https://www.marksandspencer.com/printed-v-neck-mini-waisted-dress/p/clp60604526?color=PINKMIX#intid=plpnav_pid_pg1pip48g4r4c2|prodflag_plp_ts_QPH_26

That second dress is lovely! I think colourwise it would suit you better than the light blue one, OP 🙂

No real advice OP, but I have this fit issue too. I feel like I've tried on every shirt dress in the UK, and even if I size up I get straining buttons over my boobs, and the dress is swimming on me everywhere else 🙄

The first dress is very nice. It's a much better shape than the OP's dress. The second one is very dull.

Interesting! I’d never pick that shape for myself!

Did you try a size larger, I sometimes have to do that because of my bust and it looks a little to tight up top to me otherwise I think it suits you.

It's all very individual but I would wear the style of dress you picked but it would need to be at least just below knee length.

The proportion of the skirt from the neat waist on your one just looks wrong with such a short skirt. The M&S one has a much better continuous line.

Sunnydays0101 · 07/05/2023 17:56

The length of the sleeve isn’t the best for you - it finishes at the same line as your bust. A shorter sleeve, sleeveless or 3/4 length sleeve would suit you much better.

Nothingbuttheglory · 07/05/2023 18:00

Your tits look amazing.

Unfortunately, the star-shaped broderie + puff sleeves + short length = little girl dress vibes.

FabFitFifties · 07/05/2023 18:22

It's too tight and too short - I see waif like teen in that dress, worn loose with DMs or something. The second one looks like a nightie, but is better.

Makemeover3 · 07/05/2023 18:29

Thanks everyone! I honestly just have no idea how to dress my body anymore. After all of the lockdowns, working from home and pregnancy I’m just completely lost. I can’t seem to find anything that suits me!

OP posts:
NooNakedJacuzziness · 07/05/2023 18:43

I love the look of some Nobody's Child dresses but they're either too short or too long for me - wish they'd do some knee lengths!

GoodOnPaper · 07/05/2023 19:23

Wrap dresses might work well for you - you don't end up with them pulling across the bust and they pull in at your narrowest point to flatter your curves/highlight your waist.

A midi-length might be better - particularly with a lower v-neck.

Or for a shorter skirt it might work better with a higher neckline.

Worth looking at personal stylists on insta - like melissamurrellpersonalstyling - they put looks together to flatter different shapes and can be a good way to get some different ideas, particularly when you're shape has changed or fashion has moved on from your 'go to' looks.

Persiana · 07/05/2023 19:25

I think the colour is wrong and it's too tight at the top, I think you could find some much more flattering
