Jacket to wear over casual summer dresses

Looking for an alternative to cardigans to wear over summer dresses. I thought maybe a denim jacket but am 51 so maybe not? Are there any alternatives? Dresses are all Seasalt/Weird Fish/White Stuff

I've recently bought a denim jacket for over dresses in summer...if it ever makes an appearance.
I'm 53 and my age was never a consideration.

Denim jackets are ageless, boyfriends mum was over yesterday, she's 71 and still rocks a denim jacket. M&S have loads in at the moment.

I bought a cream 'denim' jacket last year and its been really invaluable.

I've just bought a navy linen jacket from Seasalt which I wore today for the first time. It's slightly cropped and going to look good over dresses,also comes in a natural beige colour.

It's called ' blinker'.

I have a washed out black/dark grey distressed denim jacket that’s oversized that I wear all the time!

I have a denim jacket, a friend has a nice cream one from M&S last year, I also have a sage green colour utility style jacket which works well with some summer outfits.

I wear my denim jacket. I dyed a cream one a crazy bright colour that I love and get loads of compliments on.

How about a leather 'biker' jacket?

I've got a blue denim jacket and have just bought a white one from Matalan to wear over a couple of summer dresses. I'm 59.

I’ve got one of these for this year, in Navy, and love it. I bought it as a slightly more formal version of my denim jacket and I’ve already worn it loads.

I'm 50 and it never occurred to me that a denim jacket was not for me. I've just recently bought a slightly more oversized one to update my look a bit. My 85 year old auntie still wears a leather jacket so I'm taking her lead on fashion.

I love a denim jacket but particularly like the stone and khaki coloured ones I’ve seen around at the moment.

I love denim jackets esp the pastel shades. I have noticed Oasis sell a lovely cropped jacket too. Pricey but worth it.

I've never worn a denim jacket and don't feel like they are me. Wish they were there are tons about. But I have never thought it was an age thing.

My DM wears a denim jacket and she's in her late 70s.

Thanks for the suggestions @KirstenBlest I like the pink one. I had a cord jacket I loved years ago (it reminded me a little of a regency spencer!) maybe the time has come to try something like the coloured twill.

I am a bit older than you and have denim jackets in every colour for summer.

Also consider a cropped sweatshirt rather than a jacket.

@Hoolahoophop , I only looked at the M&S site but lots of places sell trucker or chore jackets. The pink one is lovely and I'm not normally keen on pink.

Denim jackets are fine and very useful - no age limit! I’ve been wearing my pink cord jacket more this Spring for a change. Also eyeing up some Zara bomber jackets. I always feel leather jackets are more for autumn.
