Swimsuit for big boobs and size 18

I’m the proud owner of a pair of 36Gs so I really need a swimsuit with the requisite engineering to hold them up. I have a speedo one for exercise but I want something pretty for a holiday. Everything I try in the right boob size is far too tight in the body. I’ve tried all sorts of brands to hold up my knockers (from Bravissimo, Fantasie, Figleaves, Freya, etc) but can’t get them over my arse. Or I have found perfectly nice size 18 suits that fit my body but my boobs either burst out of the top if they are wired or sag to my waist if they aren’t. I must be be doing something wrong, designers surely can’t assume that a 36G is also a size 12? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Wear a bra underneath your costume, it’s what I often do as it’s cheaper and I too have a large bust. I have in the past bought bra bikini tops from bravissimo and then bottoms separate but it so expensive

QuickNameChangeForMeToday · 23/04/2023 12:32

Tesco! I hunted everywhere for years and stumbled across F&F shape swimsuit with good boob support by accident in the supermarket. I wear a size 18 and I am a size 18 in most things with 38GG bust.

I know, it's madness isn't it. Years ago M&S used to do their swimwear by bra size which made a lot more sense. Now they've realised it's cheaper to stock by dress size and flick the Vs at people who aren't a standard boob size for their dress size. I find ones with foam inserts are the best of a bad lot at keeping my 38Fs from touching my knees but that's about it.

I've reverted to bikinis now as at least I can find tops that fit, and with high waisted pants there's not a huge amount of skin showing between the two.

Found a lovely selection in Matalan of all places - they have rankings as well that are ranked by bra size. Worth a look?

LadyOfTheCanyon · 23/04/2023 12:37

Tankinis- not rankings!

AuntieDolly · 23/04/2023 12:40

Fantasie make swimwear in proper bra sizes - lifesaver. Expensive, but can often find them on sale

haribonoyoudont · 23/04/2023 12:40

Deakin and Blue are £££ but you can sort by bust size + clothes size, and they have some very nice stuff.

violetscarlet · 23/04/2023 12:41

Same size boobs as you.

I'm a 36G. I wear Lands End tugless suits.

Ratonastick · 23/04/2023 12:53

Fantastic! I’m off to have a nose at some of these options. I’m not the biggest fan of tankinis as I find they ride up and draw the world’s attention to my menopausal belly, and can’t entertain bikinis for the same reason. I’m willing to put a few quid into this purchase for something that actually fits as I have a wardrobe full of swimsuits that I have worn once or twice. But I am interested in the Tesco discovery too. That could resolve a lot of stress.

I like the Elomi swim range too because of the swim bra. I'm long bodied so got an Elomi tankini rather than a one piece but choose the super high waisted briefs so that there is no danger of any flesh on show if the top rides up! There is often discounted last season stock around, worth googling rather than going to Elomi direct.

I also have a Landsend swimsuit but had to go up a size. I also got a couple from Sainsbury’s which do the job well!

Frankie789 · 23/04/2023 13:26

Curvy Kate, not cheap but well made and plenty of room all round and handy that they come in bra sizes!

IhearyouClemFandango · 23/04/2023 13:27

I like my Deakin and blue costume, expensive but has last two years of heavy wear so far

Buy separates? High waisted bottoms then a cup size Tankini top

Try ASDA for bikini tops. They do them in bra sizes and are surprisingly good for really reasonable prices.

Cinnamonandcoal · 23/04/2023 13:48

This Curvy Kate one is awesome.
Provides a LOT of support but isn't underwired so it's very flexible. Plus reversible!
You can wear it with the straps crossed at the back to provide more support too. If you get one sized for your body I'm pretty sure it will fit your boobs.

I'd say try a few sizes, but probably if you get say a 38 instead of a 36 then it should be fine.

May is ask, if I'm a 34GG/H should I try Curvy Kate in 36G/GG? Also are the bikini bottoms true to size? Would a 14 to 16 need a size 16?

This is genius- don’t why it’s never occurred to me.

Whatliesbeneath707 · 23/04/2023 19:36

Another vote for Landsend swimsuits. They really hold everything in & disguise boobs & belly. I bought lots of others before finding these. They look ridiculously expensive so I buy when they are on sale, but they really are worth it. They have internal scaffolding that feels secure & is easy to get on. They are they only swimsuits I feel comfortable in with big boobs.

Notellinganyone · 23/04/2023 19:36

Prima Donna Swim is very spendy but fantastic. I’m 34H and there’s is the only bikini top that’s ever really worked for me.

LaLaLouella · 23/04/2023 19:42

I too have an amazing set of knockers and have been searching for a supportive and flattering swimsuit for years!

I bought this last year and it's fantastic - www.pourmoi.co.uk/products/sol-beach-underwired-rope-swimsuit/?source=findologic&curr=GBP

Survived a fortnight at the beach and a week at at a water park where it kept my tits under control even when hurtling down some insane watersides!

Mykittensmittens · 23/04/2023 19:48

Landsend tankini for me. I also have a pour moir which is decent.

i’ve just have this too - it’s actually very good because it holds it all in and you can see that my 36gs aren’t perfectly pert. I think I’ll wear it a lot for holidays.
