Don't think I can do heels anymore, what for a party?

I just don't think I can wear them anymore. I get weird pains in my achilles with my heels being raised up. I sprained an ankle a few years back and I've never really worn them since.
I have a few evening parties/weddings this year so am on the hunt for something elegant but also comfortable. Preferably in a neutral like pale metallic or blush or something that will go with everything. If I could find some genuinely supportive heels it'd be ok but I'm not sure it's possible. Ordered some clarks to try and I'm not convinced I'd be comfy standing around snd dancing in them. I think it must be a heel under 2 inches now. I'm a trainers girl at heart but sometimes I need something smarter!
Doesn't help I'm a shortarse either!
Where to find a dressy shoe with a low or flat heel? I'm looking but struggling.

What about platform sandals? There's loads around at the moment.

I came on to say platforms - comfortable alternative to stilletos or 'normal' heels.

ShortSilence · 11/04/2023 17:13

If the op’s pain comes from having raised-up heels, presumably platforms might still hurt?

What about something like these? Although maybe not for dancing:

JaneJeffer those are bloody high!
A low block heel or mules like those above.

They won't feel high because of the platform.

esskashoes.com/products/charlie-bronze

The rise on Esska Charlie shoes is a bit more forgiving than the ones Jane linked. They're really comfortable. Might be worth a punt?

Those Sam Edelman ones are gorgeous but almost too flat for people with feet problems I would have thought?

Justkoko · 11/04/2023 18:34

I wouldn't feel stable in those platforms as nice as they are. My ankles are just not reliable enough because of past sprain and hypermobility. I like to be more connected to the ground🤓

Some pretty things on esska. V expensive though.

Fancy flat sandals and a maxi dress!

flutterbyebaby · 11/04/2023 20:59

OP says heels hurt, gets told to try other shoes with heels, just ridiculous

anon2022anon · 11/04/2023 21:04

I have these in my basket at la redoute at the minute, if you want to try lower heels. Or I have moi London flats on the wish list, along with Esska platforms.
ASOS seems to have some nice shoes too, but I cant vouch for quality

cromwell44 · 11/04/2023 21:09

Or ASOS for budget-friendly versions of fancy flat shoes.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 11/04/2023 21:11

There's loads of different styles and colours too. I used to love my classic nude ones soooo so much!!!!!

Oldieandgoldie · 11/04/2023 21:16

Primark sell ballet flats almost identical to the Vivienne Westwood ones above.

When I had an office job in town I used to wear through Primark shoes in a matter of weeks! I'm very heavy footed and power walk, they just weren't supportive enough for me. Suppose cheap enough for OP to try out and road test though!
