Don't think I can do heels anymore, what for a party?

I just don't think I can wear them anymore. I get weird pains in my achilles with my heels being raised up. I sprained an ankle a few years back and I've never really worn them since.
I have a few evening parties/weddings this year so am on the hunt for something elegant but also comfortable. Preferably in a neutral like pale metallic or blush or something that will go with everything. If I could find some genuinely supportive heels it'd be ok but I'm not sure it's possible. Ordered some clarks to try and I'm not convinced I'd be comfy standing around snd dancing in them. I think it must be a heel under 2 inches now. I'm a trainers girl at heart but sometimes I need something smarter!
Doesn't help I'm a shortarse either!
Where to find a dressy shoe with a low or flat heel? I'm looking but struggling.

I've just ordered some low block heel sandals from Next, similar style to the La Redoute from pp. A lot of those style around, I can't cope with high heels these days either.

I wear either Skechers wedges or Carvela Comfort wedges. I’m very short and find it so so difficult to find comfy shoes that give me a bit of height. Skechers used to have loads of different wedges but now don’t have many to choose from.

For party shoes, go with something sparkly, strappy or with embellishments.

OP says heels hurt, gets told to try other shoes with heels, just ridiculous

The first post said not too high and with platforms the heel raise is less high. It was a good suggestion as at that point the OP hadn’t said her ankles were unstable.

What's your suggestion then oh wise one?

I can't wear heels any more. I have switched from dresses to evening trousers as that gives more scope. I usually wear them with a pair of ballet flats or shiny loafers.

Justkoko · 12/04/2023 18:02

So I ordered some my way sandals from office. Perfect colour. Pale gold, stable chunky small heel that I think would be manageable. Only problem is they pinch at my little toes. The band is just a touch too tight. They aren't leather they are pu. Am I being daft to think they might ease if I wear them about the house?
Alternatively maybe I should have sized up but would that help?

Silver loafers! I am currently obsessing over them, although have no occasion to wear them so can’t justify buying.
Or silver pointy flats, if that’s more your style?

At the risk of being ‘ridiculous’ I thought I’d add that I can barely do heels anymore but can cope with Sole Bliss. Aside from that it’s FitFlops all the way but these below are perfect for formal events.

@Shangrilalala the sandals are nice. Are they comfy?

Shangrilalala · 12/04/2023 23:24

They are perfectly comfortable. I can keep standing all evening and even manage the odd dance. The nude ones are lovely and make me happy as I’d thought that heels were firmly in my past!

Justkoko · 13/04/2023 10:42

Oh some of those bared footwear are lovely. Expensive though. They do look comfortable and elegant.

I'm not keen on platforms, they are unstable for me. I'd feel quite wobbly.

Got these from office but a bit narrow over the toes. I think they are as high as I'd go and that's pushing it!

Maybe you need to try some wide fit @Justkoko to give you toe room.

ElizabethBest · 13/04/2023 14:05

the esska Charlie sandals are the most comfortable shoes ever - they're brilliant!

Notcontent · 13/04/2023 14:21

I think there is a bit of a gap in the market - shoes that are not frumpy but are comfortable - ie not too flat and not too high. And not made of plastic.

ThisIsntMyUsualUsername · 17/04/2023 18:20

Pretty much every pair here is lovely but maybe even too flat? I kind of clomp along if I don't have a half inch heel, hard to look elegant! But I'm not the OP so may be perfect. It's a very pretty selection!
