The Sezanne aesthetic on a shoe string budget?

For those that like Sezanne but can’t or won’t pay Sezanne pieces I thought it would be a nice idea to post pieces that you think would fit the Sezanne aesthetic just without the price tag.

Great idea for a thread! I love Sezane style. I've actually found a few Sezane items in charity shops too.

User2344 · 05/04/2023 05:27

Love the idea. I think some of the pieces in & other stories are similar. As well as some of the current season blouses in la redoute

1treehilll · 05/04/2023 05:35

Matalan and Tu often have that frilly borderie anglais type of lace on clothes. M&S, too.

Love this - even on Vinted Sezane is out of my budget.

So1invictus · 05/04/2023 06:50

Per Una (M&S), Zara, H&M generally do a lot of flower print frilly bits similar to Sezanne.

WhereAreWeNow · 05/04/2023 07:08

H&M

steelseries · 05/04/2023 07:22

You don't want the real Sezanne anyway - the quality is awful!!

Agree with H&M for blouses and knitwear. Try Arket for similar trousers.

DeoForty · 05/04/2023 12:04

La Redoute for sezane-esque tops

Dilemma19 · 05/04/2023 12:13

It is so overrated. I think many people buy into the hype around it. I have bought a few shirts but find their knitwear truly horrible sizing. I bought a gaspard as hyped about and honestly couldn't tell the difference visually from one that I bought at Uniqlo. Some of their shirts are nice but definitely overhyped and overpriced.

ScentOfAMemory · 05/04/2023 12:55

I firmly believe that as with many middling brands that can't afford as agencies there's a lot of Sezanne employees on MN. (see also Me&Em, Hush, Toast, Mint Velvet, Saltwater, 4160 Tuesdays etc)

astarsheis · 05/04/2023 16:08

Went in to the shop in London a couple of weeks ago...it was packed and full of tourists too. Wasn't actually impressed with the quality. Prefer Maje, Marant and Sandro if i'm paying those prices

ILikeTrueCrime · 05/04/2023 17:29

Yeah I've noticed this too.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 05/04/2023 20:10

A big Sezane fan here - but I think they may be at a tipping point for me. When I first started buying from them, they felt a little “special”, a little different a little cut above but now they seem to be everywhere and offering a new drop every weekend. It’s a shame. I always take a look in Uniqlo for shirts etc and for jewellery I look on Etsy.

allswellthatends · 05/04/2023 20:33

I only recently discovered Sezane and loved the tops. The bottoms seem pretty routine to me. Sadly none of their tops work for me as the V-necks are far too low to wear with any bra and the high-necked ones all had football quarterback shoulders that were totally out of proportion to their length (no: no one ever looks good in clothes wider they are long!), besides which high-necked doesn't suit me anyway. I was most disappointed coz I do like a bit of lace ...

dontgobaconmyheart · 05/04/2023 23:40

I find H&M, La Redoute and & Other stories often have pieces in a similar vein, but cheaper.

Off topic, but I went into a Sezane shop last year, in France and it was very humbling I must say. The women in there shopping looked absolutely amazing, so stylish and in some exceptional outfits, gorgeous hair, gorgeous bags and shoes, everything hung well on them, looked rich etc. I had just done a days touristing in some shabby trainers and jeans and it made me feel total despair 😅

Maje is awful quality. Everything I've owned from there has not lasted well.

Verite1 · 06/04/2023 00:53

I like Sezane. I don’t think it’s poor quality. I have four dresses and one skirt and they are all good quality and lasted well. I do also like Sándro and Maje but they are much more expensive than Sezane so you can’t really compare. At least twice the price!

BHRK · 06/04/2023 12:32

Sezane is fabulous quality and cut in my experience. But I agree that Stories, some selected M&S and Love and Roses have a similar vibe

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 06/04/2023 12:46

I have always found the quality and cut very good. It is at the expensive end of my budget but I do love it - just wish it wasn’t flooding the market at the moment. Never heard of Love and Roses so off to take a look.

Needsomethingtoread · 06/04/2023 15:40

I Love Sezane but definitely can’t afford it, please keep the tip coming!
