Too old fashioned?
I do somehow like it 🤔

I don’t think they were ever fashionable or even tasteful op. But if you like them that’s all that matters

SecondhandMuck · 25/03/2023 15:01

does look kind of old fashioned to me and wouldn't be my thing. but Sezane and Rouje do knitwear that isn't a million miles from that look and they're mega popular. Wear it as a portly 55 year old and it looks old fashioned. Wear it as a coltish 20 year old and look chic.

Inmybrainfeelfifteenyearsold · 25/03/2023 15:02

@Daffodilsandbeer these were actually on This Morning and I later spotted the blue one is a store, hence I couldn’t understand the madness apparently..

Quite true second. Age and bmi would make a massive difference to the effect.

Themermaidspool · 25/03/2023 15:04

Id wear them and i like them. Id wear with a floral skirt, tights and chelsea boots / docs or skinny jeans. And im an overweight 40ish. But i dont really care whats in or out or what others think. So go for it if you like them. (Where are they from?)

Inmybrainfeelfifteenyearsold · 25/03/2023 15:09

These are from Sainsburys.
I do like the blue one actually, but my Nan would have definitely liked them too hence my question.

Interesting. At first glance I thought old fashioned but having looked again, I really like the blue one. The more I look at it the more I like it. I'd get it if I were you.
If I see it, I'll probably get it too

Inmybrainfeelfifteenyearsold · 25/03/2023 15:18

@Themermaidspool thats how I would wear it as well, black skinnies, Chelsea boots.

BusterGonad · 25/03/2023 15:29

I quite like the blue one. I wouldn't wear it though as I haven't got the figure for it. Too booby.

Fladdermus · 25/03/2023 15:31

They're something my grandma would wear, too old fashioned for me, And I'm in my 50s

maeveiscurious · 25/03/2023 15:41

I had a jumper like that for "best" as a teen. I had to wear it to family occasions. Never again

CrumpetsandJammmm · 25/03/2023 16:06

That blue one grows on you. With skinnies and good boots it could look good, especially if you buy a size too big so it’s baggy. And with make up. Which probably sounds ridiculous but it looks like the kind of jumper which could be dressed up and look cool, but with bad trousers on a day at home it’d look like you were dressing as your Nan.

Inmybrainfeelfifteenyearsold · 25/03/2023 16:16

@CrumpetsandJammmm I agree.

Sorry, but no.

Eatentoomanyroses · 25/03/2023 16:19

If you’re young and slim they’ll be super cute. If you’re tubby and big boobed you’re going to look like somebody’s Great Aunt Maud.

Wellillsayitifnoonelsewill · 25/03/2023 16:28

Well considering river island are selling what me and the other half both referred too as a grandad shirt the other day - maybe us lot just as fashionable?

it’ll all be furry wolf coats from the market this winter I bet

They're refreshing ....and kind of cute in a cottagecore kind of way. Remind me a bit of 80/90's good girls sitting their finals and creeping out for a picnic date between revising.

Absolutely a current teen thing, I'm seeing this style all over the place now, urban outfitters, etc. I can see them with mom jeans or shorts.

Not my kind of thing at all, but I don't see a problem. We're all different!

MN is very scared, generally, of anything that reminds them of their childhood. Younger women don't give a hoot. If i like these i would wear them just to provoke ire on here Grin

(joke, before anyone get's their structured COS knickers in a twist)

MissTesseract · 25/03/2023 16:29

Also, I love how most people on here claim to be feminists yet deride other women for being short, fat or old when it comes to sartorial choices. Mmmmm.....

Of course, we all know that short, fat women ought to hide in a closet and weep into their mumu's)

notanicepersonapparently · 25/03/2023 16:32

I like the blue one, the fact that it’s cable knit and I like the flowers, but I don’t think I like the collar. I think that’s just one design detail too many.

ourflagmeansdeath · 25/03/2023 16:33

I love them actually, I'd wear them. 😁

I do consider myself to be a feminist and I also think these jumpers will give off very different vibes if worn by a slim 20 year old or a less slim 50 year old. I don't think that's akin to say short middle aged fat women should hide in a cave and only come out under the cover of darkness. Do we really need to preface all posts with 'if you like it should of course wear it'?

PuppyMonkey · 25/03/2023 16:36

I think they’re hideous, which usually means they are the height of fashion.Grin

No one said anything like that.

deliberately retro clothes have a different vibe at 20 than at 50, that is all.

Inmybrainfeelfifteenyearsold · 25/03/2023 17:51

@Eatentoomanyroses i am quite slim I would say, between sizes 10-12, but in my 40s, still hoping to get away with it, going back tomorrow to get the blue one..
