Too old fashioned?
I do somehow like it 🤔

Yeah but popular with who? Grannies shop in sainsburys you know 🤣

What's your point?

I'm puzzled why on MN posters will post the opinions of their teenage children as some sort of definitive arbiter of what is or isn't stylish and use references to "grandmothers" in such derogatory ways.

does look kind of old fashioned to me and wouldn't be my thing. but Sezane and Rouje do knitwear that isn't a million miles from that look and they're mega popular. Wear it as a portly 55 year old and it looks old fashioned. Wear it as a coltish 20 year old and look chic.

Yep, this.

I definitely would have worn this in my 20s. It would have a completely different vibe for me now.

And politely,,,,thus begs the question, does anyone wish to look like you?

How do these two questions relate 😂I know it's not to everyone's taste but the OP asked for people's opinions and my opinion was that I really liked them.

redspottedmug · 26/03/2023 18:49

Well FWIW my teenage taste arbitrator who has amazing taste because I taught her well thinks it's cute.

TheClash2023 · 26/03/2023 18:51

Blue one is nice, but the way it's styled on that video is hideous.

AtomicBlondeRose · 26/03/2023 18:54

I think it could be doable - there’s a bit too much going on for my taste, but that outfit on This Morning is absolutely awful and makes the jumper look probably ten times worse than it actually is!

Inmybrainfeelfifteenyearsold · 26/03/2023 20:15

@TheClash2023
@AtomicBlondeRose
yeah, it looks terrible on that video, the shoes, the trousers too.

Back in the day there would be a brochure in the Sunday papers selling all sorts of 'useful' gadgets, such as armchair tidies and other handy bits, they always had a nice range of knitwear and slippers with Velcro too. These jumpers brought the memories flooding back, sorry x

Inmybrainfeelfifteenyearsold · 27/03/2023 09:03

@thesnailandthewhale i know what you mean, there were those little insert catalogues in TV programs too.
I just can’t help I like them jumpers, I’m lots into Joules, Cath Kidston so these are sort of nice to me, but I don’t mean all Joules or Cath items are nice, some are totally frumpy and I would not wear them ever either.
I ordered the orange jumper online, I will jazz it up with black skinnies and black chelsea boots. Will see how that works out, otherwise gonna return.

I did buy the orange one online but sadly it was too small so had to return it as too tight.
Today I went to Sainsburys and they had the blue ones back in, I was to get one when I noticed an elderly lady possibly in her mid 80s trying one in the front of nearby mirror.

She looked lovely in it and she decide to buy it as she put it into her trolley-however I decided not to get one myself as the pale blue is perhaps not the best colour for me as too pastelly ( perhaps ageing) even the blue is a such pretty colour.

On the other hand I do like the coral orangey one as it feels to have more edge as quite bright, already ordered in a bigger size.
When I took that one back, the lady who was doing the refund was pretty young, much younger than me and she mentioned instantly that she really liked it and perhaps would order one for herself too.

Some young thing would swish around in them making them look like the most stylish garment ever.

On me it would look like a 1970s Woman's Weekly pattern my grandma would have knitted me when I was 8.

Cinnamonandcoal · 04/04/2023 20:06

I have one similar to the blue one except without the embroidery. It's cashmere from a posh brand via eBay. Similar vibe because it has heart shaped mother of pearl buttons.
I wear it with black jeans and boots from air and grace, think it looks good - but mainly very warm!
Am a size 16 with big boobs and I'm sure it would suit someone skinny better but whatever, most things would look better on someone who isn't me so this is not unique in that respect!

Inmybrainfeelfifteenyearsold · 05/04/2023 08:16

@Sagittariusrising Im still in two minds about it as I seriously love the jumper.
It’s literally right up my street as I love flowers prints etc, I love Cath Kidston, Joules prints etc.
Im still thinking about the blue one too - to quickly run to Sainsburys and get one..
I am in my mid 40s, slim, I think with skinny black jeans and some Chelsea boots it could work ok..

Not for me, but not offensive or anything. They're quite 80s Sloane-style which has been having a moment for the last few years. They look like something I could imagine Princess Diana wearing and that was all making a comeback after she was in The Crown I think.

jackstini · 05/04/2023 08:26

@AppleDumplingWithCustard - I like that one!

Couldn't get past the nipple flowers on the blue one!

Let us know what the orange one looks like OP

Fairislefandango · 05/04/2023 08:27

Really not a fan. They look really old-fashioned and twee to me. I can't imagine them looking good on anyone of any size or age tbh. I'm 51 and I'm pretty sure my mum and MIL in their 70s and my 17yo dd would agree! But if you love them, go for it OP - it would be a boring world if we all had the same taste!

Inmybrainfeelfifteenyearsold · 05/04/2023 08:29

@jackstini I can’t really see the nipple flowers, but this reminds me -my mum had a top in the 80s, it was red and had two flowers on the nipples! Plain red with the two flowers!
That was totally obvious but I can’t see it on this jumper as there is more than 2 flowers..

Yes! That's what they were reminding me of!

I think they're both awful and made the woman on TV look awful, but if that's the fashion and you like it then go for it. I'm not the height of fashion myself 🙂

NormaTheWife · 05/04/2023 09:34

That peachy one is just awful - it's just designers trying to get us to spend more money. It looks like it would be from a shop that was called Quality Seconds.

Purkled · 05/04/2023 09:39

Nope. This is a prime example of the difference between fashion and style.

I couldn't remember what these jumpers reminded me of! Thank you! I think they suit a body type like Diana's because the chunky oversized style would look sporty not frumpy. The embroidery would just be an extra feature.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 05/04/2023 09:44

*Princess Diana's (I don't want to be jumped on after seeing the Queen Camilla thread today).

benten54 · 05/04/2023 11:07

If worn by a willowy young thing it's terribly ironic and trendy.
Anyone else its going to look like you've come in 'nanna' fancy dress
That This Morning model looks like she's straight out of 'French Fields'

LlynTegid · 05/04/2023 12:01

Like the orange one, and you should not care whether or not something looks old fashioned.
