Mercedesbenz2022 · 25/03/2023 12:46

I am so so sick of seeing myself in jeans .. it is
my go to EVERY time ,in work ( casual office ) low key lunch with friends, local pub
even though I have lovely clothes in the wardrobe I always end up in bloody Jean
sooooo (drum roll ) this week I have decided NO JEANS
who is in ? Of course it may not be jeans that it is your go to
it could be leggings , or a fleece , or boots that you have

can you give them up for a week ?

today I am in a long cotton black dress with opaques and chunky boots

I haven't worn jeans for probably close on a year so I'm very happy to join you though probably not who you were looking for- 😂

NatashaDancing · 25/03/2023 23:49

I haven't worn jeans for over 30 years, so also not who you're looking for !

superoz · 26/03/2023 00:40

This is me! Work from home most of the time so I live in them, school run, out for dinner, team meeting. Only wear dresses in summer, have leggings but nothing to go with them.

I do have one pair of casual black trousers. I need to break the cycle, but it looks like I’ll have to go buy some more clothes! I bought 2 pairs of Levi’s last week though which probably isn’t a great start. Oops.

AinmÁlainn · 26/03/2023 02:19

I haven't found jeans to fit me in years, but I've got waaaay to comfortable in my leggings. I chuck them on to walk the dog and don't get around to changing out of them. Better effort this week

dudsville · 26/03/2023 05:04

This was me ages ago! I got sick of then too so i got rid of them. I feel so much better about myself when i look in the mirror. Hope you enjoy the change!

BreakingPointAgain · 26/03/2023 09:06

I almost always wear jeans, my tiny change has been to only wear black jeans for work! What can I wear instead?

Mercedesbenz2022 · 26/03/2023 12:26

Hi everyone ,
so day two and a mini panic this morning cos my jeans were out of bounds and I was going to lunch

so I am wearing wide navy pants , white pumps and a v pale pink t shirt

feels nice to be out of jeans and boots .

but I had to give getting dressed A bit more head space

I can't remember when I last wore jeans so it's not a challenge for me!

That sounds nice - and more interesting than jeans.

This is me, but swap jeans for track suit bottoms

AinmÁlainn · 26/03/2023 16:04

Nice outfit OP. I failed miserably on the first day. I threw on leggings to walk the dog, then came home and changed into warmer leggings to stand on the side of a pitch. It's pouring rain so I'm not leaving the couch for the rest of the day. Tomorrow I will be better dressed!

Mercedesbenz2022 · 27/03/2023 20:44

@AinmÁlainn
@user1496146479 and @BreakingPointAgain

how did you all get on ?

today was same navy wide trousers with a white oversized shirt for work
( and got a few you look nice comments )

tomorrow , hmm pondering still

I went for a half way house, black chinos and a nice grey sweatshirt with a tiny sparkly thread in it. I was at my desk and on and off calls all day but I felt a little more dressed. I bought a truly gorgeous pair of wide leg silky black trousers which I think I'll wear tomorrow after I go to the gym

Lovely you got some positive comments when you mixed things up a bit Smile

Mercedesbenz2022 · 27/03/2023 21:49

@AinmÁlainn
those silky pants sound lovely ,
its so odd how nice it feels to wear some nicer items , when all I’m doing was going to work

AinmÁlainn · 28/03/2023 12:17

I'm freezing today so went with my pleather a-line skirt and thermal tights instead of my silky trousers. I'll keep them for when it's warmer!

Acqua · 28/03/2023 12:30

Ooh just saw the thread, can I join in please? I've been trying to not wear jeans since last summer. Yes, I used to be one of those women who would wear jeans even during the hottest days of the year. Sweltering. And hated it. But still did it anyway because I didn't know what else to do😂.

I've been trying very hard to ignore my massive pile of jeans in my closet. Problem is, I seem to have replaced my daily jean habit with a daily leggings habbit (I work from home). Which isn't much of an improvement...especially as it now looks like I'm in my sleep wear when I open the door. Not a good look!

Hopefully, joining you ladies will hold me accountable to wear something nicer. That being said, I should change...👗

Acqua · 28/03/2023 12:32

@AinmÁlainn Those silky black trousers sound perfect. Stylish and comfy :-)

Fantasticaldolphin · 28/03/2023 20:16

I’d also like to wear jeans less. I seem to wear them all the time, even when it’s hot. I have dresses, but never feel confident enough or ready enough to wear them. I’d also like to get more wear out of my not-jeans trousers.

kublacant · 28/03/2023 20:21

I would love to get out of my jeans but I barely have any other trousers 🤣. Where do you get your navy wide trousers from OP?
I’m sick of my jeans but need to have a massive session trying all the different styles and shapes to get used to myself in them.

AinmÁlainn · 28/03/2023 22:58

I've discovered jeans and in fact very few trousers fit me. Next relaxed skinny jeans did but then they were discontinued. I've gone back to skirts.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 29/03/2023 07:20

Welcome to everyone who has joined us

@kublacant they are from m and s , very plain , ( no stripe like lots of them ) but with a raised seam down the front , which to me gives them sone structure, and so they are not too flappy
a bargain at £25

re jeans sizing , it’s a nightmare ,and to be honest they are not always that comfortable, but they are so easy as they go with everything

confession time , I did wear jeans yesterday , I failed my own challenge !! But today I will do better

@Mercedesbenz2022 Tomorrow's always a new day!

Acqua · 30/03/2023 15:37

@Fantasticaldolphin I know what you mean about never feeling confidant or ready enough to wear the dresses you have. One of the reasons why I lived in jeans was they were a uniform for me. No decision making required of a morning.

So, knowing that I like things to be easy, I'm trying to make wearing my dresses simpler. It's a work in progress. But I've started with just a few dresses that I wear on rotation. I've worked out exactly what type of underwear works with them (dresses need slips), what warmer layers I need (thermals, knitwear), what coat works with them, what footware, bag and accessories.

It's more exhausting than jeans to work out. But it gets easier once you've worked out your first outfit - especially if you keep the colours and styles similar as you'll already have the right knitwear, coat, shoes etc.

My only other tip to transition mentally to a new style is to wear it at home or when you're going somewhere where no one knows you. It feels easier experimenting that way. Also, it's less embarassing if you have wardrobe mishaps which you can tweak for the next time.

Enjoy experimenting. :-)

AinmÁlainn · 30/03/2023 16:39

I agree @Acqua , it takes a bit of thought to change things up, but once you do, it's a template for next time. And yes to thermals and layered knitwear (speaking as an actual snow woman).

I wore my dreaded leggings yesterday but it was in the service of a specific outfit (I've a very cool fitted dress that looks good with them) so I think it's ok. I finally wore the silky, fancy pants today. I need to take them up about 4 inches <short arse> 😂
