I am so so sick of seeing myself in jeans .. it is
my go to EVERY time ,in work ( casual office ) low key lunch with friends, local pub
even though I have lovely clothes in the wardrobe I always end up in bloody Jean
sooooo (drum roll ) this week I have decided NO JEANS
who is in ? Of course it may not be jeans that it is your go to
it could be leggings , or a fleece , or boots that you have

can you give them up for a week ?

today I am in a long cotton black dress with opaques and chunky boots

I’ve not worn jeans or trousers for about 30 years. I had trouble many years ago getting jeans to fit as I was hourglass shape and small waist to size of hip, don’t have that trouble now as gone apple shape with middle age! I’ve never found jeans comfortable I used to wear leggings a lot more for casual wear and skirts/dresses for work with opaque tights. Much warmer than jeans imo. I don’t work now due to ill health but I’m usually in a midi skirt with thick stockings (I hate tights) or occasionally if it’s really cold to go out with dog I wear thin leggings under skirt with boots. I always found denim even stretch stuff very uncomfortable and it also used to give me “womens trouble” let’s say! It’s a shame if you have lots of other nice clothes that you don’t wear, I think it can feel a bit daunting to change. Come the summer I’ll wear a summer dress so easy just bung it on and take a cardi if you’re working. I should also point out I always wear a waist slip with skirt in winter as it’s only thin but so much warmer

Meant to add as well as someone mentioned not feeling confident enough to wear a dress, I think dresses and skirts can hide a multitude of so called figure “problems” sorry don’t want to be negative because people should wear whatever the hell they like, but to me you need more confidence to wear jeans unless they are baggy ones. I have an awful flat bum that looks like a beach ball with the air let out lol now but no one can see this if I wear a dress or skirt.

@667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast I said about not feeling confident enough. I totally agree that dresses and skits can be more forgiving in many respects. For me, I lack confidence with my legs and what shoes to wear. I’m really not keen on my legs. Maxi skirts don’t really work too well as I’m fairly short. I also get worried about accidentally flashing my knickers when bending/crouching to deal with my child. Then there’s jackets/cardigans. Sometimes a dress needs a jacket or cardigan as it’s a bit cold, but I’m not confident in my choices.

I got rid of all my jeans in a huff as they were annoying me so much! I'm never going back

jay55 · 30/03/2023 17:53

I didn't wear jeans for a decade while skinnies were in. I'm loving wearing them now. So much variety. It's fabulous.

Best of luck with your endeavour

Not on your Nelly. Love jeans.

QueefQueen80s · 30/03/2023 19:17

I'm all about the jeggings now! Smart jeans look with elasticated waist, so comfy. No trousers make me feel so secure and hoisted in!

Can I join please? My guilty pleasure though is gym leggings (I don't go to a gym)

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 30/03/2023 19:20

@Fantasticaldolphin i get what you mean about accidental knicker flashing but I’ve not worn anything above the knee for a while now since I stopped working. When my child was small it would usually be something at least knee length and I would bend down rather than bedding over from my back if that makes sense. Honestly I wouldn’t worry at least you’re wearing knickers ! People also have to be paying attention and mostly they aren’t. I have very skinny legs and don’t particularly like them but I live in boots in winter and as I’m not working sandals or fit flops in summer but I’m in my 50s so I get these aren’t the most trendy. I did love flat ballet pumps with skirts and dresses too for everyday.

I gave up black clothing at the beginning of the month. It's been sooo hard, it's easily 50% of my wardrobe. It's been good though to wear other things and I've tried to dress tonally as I don t suit high contrast.
I don't think I could give up jeans, unless it was height of summer
