Hyaluronic acid serum

I've just come to the end of the Dr Barbara Sturm hyaluronic acid serum sample from the liberty box. Sadly, for a product that's £250 a bottle, I've had amazing results with it, my skin loves it. I cannot justify spending £250 so looking for a good alternative. I have the Boots Ingredients one for a fiver, but (as Joe Lycett would say) it doth butter no parsnips!

Any recommendations?

I use Hado Labo and can really tell if I haven't used it.

Another one for this. Less sticky than The ordinary and cheaper. £18 for 150ml. From superdrug (big stores or online) or Amazon.

Hyaluronic acid is in just about every moisturiser, though, so it's not vital to have the serum.

MagpieCounting · 22/03/2023 18:06

This one from Amazon is amazing. £24 for two bottles - lasts ages!

@Hopelesslydevotedtoshrews

Would you mind linking to which one please? TIA 😊

Hi, I use this one the Premium. I tend to buy the refills.

The Ordinary- about £9 I think

"Dr" Sturm is worth a Google. Though famously litigious for any negative comments.
HA is one of the cheapest ingredients on the market. It's very efficient at hydrating.
As pps have said, Hada Labo is a good one, as is Vichy 89. (I like the Vichy probiotic Fractions one <<wanky name alert)

There is nothing, absolutely nothing, in most of the spendy hyaluronic serums that justify their price.

INCI decoder is your friend. BS has apt initials.

Nothing I've tried comes close to Hada Labo

@Hopelesslydevotedtoshrews

Thank you! 👍

Does HA actually do anything, visually, for the skin?
Does it, sort of, tighten up on the skin?
My wrinkles/lines/crevices are static and I've never used a HA so just wondering if you can see any benefits?

It's a super hydrator so plumps. Can hold lots of water essentially. It's said you should apply it to damp skin for it to work its magic, though latest research says that might not be as necessary as was originally thought. The jury is still out as to its true benefits applied topically, but it does add extra moisture. It's not going to take 20 years off despite BS's prices.

As others have said, it's also in most creams and most serums and has been for years, even if they aren't billed as HA serums.

Reinventinganna · 22/03/2023 19:39

Rockaroundthexmastree · 22/03/2023 19:42

shewhomustbeEbayed · 22/03/2023 19:49

Lots of BS serum on ebay or Beauty Pie does a good one.

sarahh96 · 22/03/2023 19:51

@So1invictus thank you. I'll get some and see what happens. I'm not expecting miracles but hoping for one all the same 🤣

Aren't we all 🤣
I settle for looking in the mirror and thinking "not bad for an old bird" 🤣

Hada Labo Premium Lotion is a camper game changer. I was using Inkey List HA beforehand and couldn't tell much of a difference, just hoped it was doing something. Hado Labo transformed my skin pretty much instantly.

TattiePants · 22/03/2023 20:29

Hada Labo, Vichy 89 or Geek and Gorgeous HA are all lovely and much cheaper than Barbara Sturm. I love La Roche Posay’s Cicaplast for hydration and they’ve just brought that out in a serum which I’m going to try.

WhyMeLord · 22/03/2023 21:51

Appreciate the comments everyone, thanks
